I am having a terrible time getting Google Webmaster to verify my site. The instructions are to upload the HTML file to my web site, or to place the Meta Tag into my site’s home page (in the <head> section before the first <body> section. Google needs a Technical Writer, as these instructions are not precise. Let’s take these instructions one at a time.
1. GOOGLE Instruction — Upload the HTML file to my web site? MY QUESTION — I was able to download the file to my desktop, but where in my web site do I upload it to, and how do I do that?
2. GOOGLE Instruction — Place the Meta Tag into my site’s home page (in the <head> section before the first <body> section? MY QUESTION — OK I am using WordPress 2011 Theme Version 1.4, and in my (static) home page I cannot see the <head> or <body> HTML codes. Where do I place the Meta Tag? Also, on the first dashboard page of the Youst SEO App. there are links to Google’s, Bing’s, and Alexa’s Tools, and opposite each of them is an unpopulated field (fill in the blank). What do we put in each of those fields?
