In reply to: New Multisite gives 404 on new sitesI ran into the same problem. For me there were a couple of “specific” things that I had to do.
First, change permalinks back to default (I have a new thread regarding this because the question is begged! Why can we not use the custom or other permalinks…more related to the HTTPS plugin)
Next, at the hosting provider ” I used the advanced dns settings” to add the wild card domain. When I called Bluehost we ended up delteting it from the dns advanced records and re-adding it under the subdomain tab and presto it worked. (point is maybe you use bluehost?)
My client site JessiesCorner.EverythingAgricultural.com added fine. But when I click on any of the page link nav text…I am getting the page 404 errors too…
The topic kind of overlaps.. thanks..
I am having page 404 errors also on the “pages” of the subdomains. For example JessiesCorner.EverygthingAgricultural.com.
I am new here..so please forgive any mistakes…
The site is visible but when I click on a link… a page 404 error displays. How can I fix this for this site and other subdomain under EverythingAgricultural.com ?

In reply to: [WordPress HTTPS (SSL)] 404 ErrorUpdate! The main site everythingagricultural.com is now able to display the links / pages in associated with the navigation links! Hurray!
It appears that the Network installation instructions for creating the A record wild card vary just slightly form Hosting provider to hosting provider.
Just incase anyone wants to know. The wild card subdomain “*everyghingagricultural.com” that was “originally setup” in the Cpanel under the Advanced DNS had to be deleted and installed instead under the “Subdomain” icon (which is in the Domain section of Cpanel) after inserting the “*domain.com” tab and it prefills. Click on create and presto.
Back to the 404 page errors. I was able to create the subdomain JessiesCorner.everythingagricultural.com and the site is now visible in a browser. Problem is…non of it’s navigation links work. They are now showing the 404 page error.
Help..please..

In reply to: Multisite subdomainThank you. I will close this topic after these few commments.
Your hosting provider folks! I used to be a reseller for GD.. and quit! I had a dedicated server with them and cancelled…
I went to Bluehost.. Why am I saying this? Ok.. here is why?
In the “general” (my term) instructions in setting up a Network we are asked to create a wild card “*domain.com” A record. I did that using the Advanced Dns.. NOT the way to go!
Instead, go to Subdomains (under the Cpanel / Domains / Subdomains and add the record there.
Next, In the WP site…I added a “USER” and needed to add the site under the Site / dashboard! Thanks to the wonderful assistance from you and BH… I can see the site!
Thank you!
Now I have started a new thread for the next problem. Https and buddy press not working.. also the pages on the subdomain are not working on JessiesCorner.EverythingAgricultural.com either..
Onward we go!

In reply to: [WordPress HTTPS (SSL)] 404 ErrorI had created multi site everythingagricultural.com. Prior to the installation of the plugin “all” pages showed just fine when clicking on links.
Now! Now I am getting a page 404 error code for all pages except the home page.
The error readsNot Found
The requested URL / Welcom-login? was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use the ErrorDocument to handle the request.I tried deactivating the plugin but “still” the error persisted. I am beginning to wish that I never installed the plugin as now I cannot figure out how to get things back to where they were prior to installing the plugin.
Patience… is a virtue and time is a terrible thing to waste.

In reply to: Two top level domains configurationI am back and thanks for the “tips”…
The customer service person assisted with the tips on Pointing the Nameservers and dedicated ip of the …today.com to the …the tonight.com site.
Then also added and showed me where I go into the cpanel to park the domain of …today.com. Great! Good thus far.
I have created the …today.com site in the parent …tonight.com site.
Now I have to wait for the dns propogation.. you wanted to know where I was at..
fyi..changed my handle to be more apprapo…
