In reply to: Trouble updating a themeIt’s no secret that I’m new at this… ??
but I’ve been looking for that magical “delete” button on nearly every page and it eludes me still! Definitely not on Appearance:Manage Themes… (the logical location)

In reply to: Trouble updating a themewell what is good is that this is an entirely new site, with NO information loaded yet. So I’m not worried about losing anything a this point!
But I do need to know how to access via FTP…

In reply to: migrating from Blogger to WP, on my own domainkathaemert –
I have found success!!from blogger, i exported the XML.
then i used https://blogger2wordpress.appspot.com/ to create a WXR file.
finally from within WP, used the Tools:Import:Wordpress page to import this.and DONE!
it was super easy. all the hard stuff came before. my hosting provider is really what save the day, generously helping create the .htaccess file, set permissions, and adjust a php file to handle a larger file upload.
best of luck!

So far, I’ve exported the xml from blogger, used the conversion tool to create the wxr, but then i’m getting file size errors when i try to import. Trying to figure out where to increase file size (where did you do that?)
My fingers are crossed that the fact I have next-to-no comments may be a blessing in disguise…
thx
fingers crossed for you!Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Import from Google Blogger troublethis seemed like the most simple & direct method for migration, so I tried it. However, I received this error msg:
The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini
one other question. when I used the appspot, it created this file:
wordpress-wxr.xml.html
Is that the correct nomenclature, or do I need to amend the file name? Thanks!

In reply to: remove Entries RSS | Comments RSS+1 for that question! it seems to be a default in my theme and not something I can turn off! I haven’t looked at the code yet, but I’m assuming that’s where it would be most easily done. (i’m just dealing with it for now as i don’t want to go and mess it up after i’ve finally got the site working!!)

In reply to: images can’t be uploaded ?Deckster – (or anyone else):
Everything seems to work great with permissions set to 777, but I’ve read that this particular setting is not ideal, due to its lack of security. If so, then why is it used?
thanks!

In reply to: .htaccess – Subdomain Rewrite Ruleafter many hours of being frustrated, i simply submitted a ticket to my hosting service and asked them if they had any clue why i was having problems. even though they don’t actively support WP, they graciously helped and i had everything up and working within 30 minutes.
perhaps try this approach? good luck!
