In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] Not all episodes showing in RSS feedAaahh, I see and understand… Problem solved. My wife has assigned the previous episodes to a podcast, whereas the last 30+ are not. So they are collected in a different feed…
Thank you so much for your support!
Question: Is there any reason not to leave the last episodes unassigned? (And delete the assignments in the previous ones?) Otherwise we would have to reconfigure the feed information with various platforms.

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] Not all episodes showing in RSS feedYes, my wife has added two podcast episodes in the meanwhile. And the weird thing is: There must have been a time when the episodes that are now not listed have been in the feed. Otherwise people wouldn’t have been able to subscribe and listen to the podcast during its first years of existence using platforms like Apple Podcasts or Spotify. (Which they have.)

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] Not all episodes showing in RSS feedHi Serhiy,
I adjusted the “Syndication feeds show the most recent” number, and judging from the wp_posts table the post type for all episodes is “podcast”.
Thanks and best regards, L.
Help received via mail. Thx!
Ah, sorry, found the “SecondLine Custom Addons” in the WP plugin page (v. 2.1.6). But it doesn’t show its need to update, nor any option to do so anyway.
Ah, really? Even though there is a “SecondLine Custom” subdirectory in my “Plugins” directory on the server (including the “importer-pro”), it doesn’t show up under that name in the WP Plugins interface, and the “Podcast Importer Secondline” (v. 1.3.6) entry there pretends to be not in need of any updating. How am I supposed to update the whole package?

In reply to: [P2] Facebook-style link previewAh, I see! My mistake. Sorry for addressing the wrong community!

In reply to: [P2] Facebook-style link previewNo, Adam, that’s not at all what I meant.
When in a P2-themed WordPress blog you are linking to another WordPress blog post, P2 generates a kind of preview of the linked post. Unfortunately that is not the case when you are linking to some other web content – then only the linked URL is shown.
With “Facebook-like” I only meant that within Facebook every link is treated that way: Facebook is trying to get the headline, picture and first lines of the linked article, and presents it in your posting as a graphical preview. Within Tumblr or Slack it is the same: You get a nice little preview of most URLs you are using in your postings.
That is what I wish for in P2 and in WordPress in general: The possibility to enter a URL in a posting and have WordPress automagically transform that in to such a linked preview. As I said, there is a plugin called “Visual Link Preview” that more or less does that thing, though the result looks a bit unprofessional. But because there is no way to self-host P2, there is also no way to install that plugin.
Anyway, it would be nice to have this function as a regular block type in Gutenberg.
Thank you, George! Yes, sorry, that was a bit unclear. What I want is having one dedicated spot or section on the homepage for EACH CATEGORY. Actually, I would want to just show THE MOST RECENT POST for each category.
Problem with the mentioned option (use one of the existing slots like ‘Featured Stories’ and dedicate it to a category) is that with the themes I’ve checked there are usually only a LIMITED NUMBER of such ‘slots’ that you can restrict to a category, like one or two, and you might not even be able re-name the heading to the category title. Generally speaking, you would have to ‘hack’ the theme a bit to achieve an approximation of what I want.
What I can hardly believe is that there are no themes that FOCUS on what I have in mind: A homepage that gives you a quick overview of what is happening within each topic/section/category of the blog.
I’m sure such a theme is somewhere out there, and I have not yet found it. And all my extensive googling have not brought any success or progress.
