In reply to: Template design question if I may.Doh! I did not even think about the classic one. I will check. I did look at the “current” default, but it its not really clear. Again I thought maybe there were some standard items that should be there. I will have to play around around a-bit and see how it goes from there. Thanks guys.
And if anyone has a suggestion for the DW question that would be great. I am going to start over… without the theme in mind then see how I can work it in.

In reply to: stylegala showcases our websiteI agree with this quote: “Although it is managed with WordPress, the designers do a great job of avoiding the typical blog layout”
Your site looks very nice. Great job on the layout, and colors.

In reply to: New theme: KiwiHa ha. for the above comments. Yes I dont coinsider it a theme! It looks like a webpage plain and simple. Nice work, I’m not taking that away from him. Theme is a generic term in the case of WP, I understand that. So before you chime in and comment, and try to be funny, understand what you and I think may be different.
edit: As an example this blog https://www.hogit.org/ and this blog https://blog.energypaws.com/ have a theme feel to them, as many others I have seen here and other WP’s sites on the web. Maybe that makes a little more sense now.

In reply to: Is my side bar too busy? All around I think it looks great. The sidebar is not a busy as some others I have seen. But the links in the reading section was quirky. Also the alignment to me seemed a little off in some area’s. I like the white links/rollovers. Nice design.

In reply to: How to increase the text size of body text! Not sure what you mean exactly. But in the CSS file you can modify the text-size of certain elements to your liking. I dont know if you can do this within the editor, maybe someone can shed some light on this for you.

In reply to: too many filesLike I said I dont see the benefit, other then seperating the code for eaiser editing like mentioned above. If this is what you mean, ok I can see your points. Is there any processing benefit? Is there a speed improvement?
But to add to the subject, I think its the CSS that really throws ppl off.
I seen the blank stylesheet, and currently using that as my base. But I have also seen others with less code in it, and this is where you may get confused. The default one has a ton of “id’s/classes” and if you do not know where these items have been “div’ed” in your .php files this is what makes things harder to open up all pages instead of one (index.php) to edit the div’s.
At this time, this is the only thing I see if you attemp to use it as your baseline. But none-the-less you have to hack-away, and learn it. Your visual anatomy is nice, but I dont see any mention of “default classes – or must have classes.”
Learning how to get this together is fun (for me at least). I undestand the structure now and now Im off to the css part of the template design. Many thanks to all to the Urban Giraffe for the info, and all of you who post about theme setup & design.

In reply to: too many filesI would have to agree. I’m not to sure of the benefits of having all items on sepreate pages, and calling them with incudes. I also agree the default theme included is a little consfusing as other themes use different structures, and the styles sheets are not to cumbersome to grasp.
I’m still debating weather to use the new seperate page structure or combine it togther. Sure, I have and seen many explanations, but still seems a little too much for a website template.
With that said I’m still glad I found WP, and hopefully with time I can finish my stuff.
