In reply to: [Hestia] cart iconThank You! I finally found way to add the very top bar (not from menus where I initially tried) using the article at https://docs.themeisle.com/article/676-how-to-configure-top-bar-in-hestia
I’m still not sure if there is a way to add the main shop page in the breadcrumbs when on a specific product page so I’ll keep researching for that.

In reply to: [Hestia] cart iconPS ~ I also noticed that the breadcrumb navigation on shop product pages skips the shop page (for example, it goes from home to a specific product category to a specific product). It seems the main shop page would be the most likely useful one in the trail to me.

In reply to: [Hestia] Hide Product description on Category PagePS ~ I may be trying a different theme by the time I get a reply so the page link may look different. I would still like to know if someone sees this and has a solution. The site is currently under construction. Thank you.

In reply to: [Virtue] Comments on Pages (versus Posts)YES!!! Thank you!! Apparently, my search on the forum sent me down the wrong rabbit hole! Sorry for the trouble. I think that should fix it much easier than it sounded and I am grateful! Thank YOU! I’ll close this and apologize for taking your time and getting myself stressed over something so simple… as I thought it should be originally. My USER ERROR – no problem with the theme! Yay! Thanks again, Julia

In reply to: [Virtue] Comments on Pages (versus Posts)Hello again,
I’ve read through the child theme info you shared in the link now. While it may seem simple to a developer, it is certainly not something I want to do and does not seem in line with the claim/goal for making themes easy for “everyday people”.So, could you please provide me with more info/specifics as to what I need to do to make this functionality happen within a child theme? I’ve attempted to create the folder and css file as described in the link you shared… though not sure I’ve done it correctly. I used notepad to create the css file since how was not clear from the link. Nor does the link say how to create the functions file. So, how am I to create the functions file and what should I put in it to enable the comments on pages? I apologize to bother over what may seem simple to you… that is why I can’t figure why this is not supported as basic functionality for all wordpress themes as I assumed it was since I’ve always had the option before to simply check “allow comments” on all pages (and still see that option with virtue with unfortunate realization that it does not actually work!). If you could provide me with specific steps to make this work via child theme (if not going to add to basic theme functionality), I would very much appreciate it.
Thank you,

In reply to: [Virtue] Comments on Pages (versus Posts)Hi Hannah,
I found a different post that suggested adding this in front of the last div on the page.php file so that’s what I had done before realizing this would be overwritten:
<?php comments_template(‘/templates/comments.php’); ?>Though I was happy with other aspects, including look, functionality, and support with virtue theme, unfortunately, I am now regretting my choice of themes. Yet, it is such an inconvenience to change that I will try making a child theme as you suggest for now (I will wait to close this thread until I’ve attempted that) and will have to look into changing themes later. May I ask why in the world this basic functionality is not supported by the virtue theme? It seems such an easy and basic functionality and one that is obviously supported by basic wordpress structure so I can’t fathom why a theme would choose to purposely limit it. I wrongly assumed that this was core functionality and didn’t even consider that I’d need to be sure a theme enabled it. If this were to be changed and supported in virtue so that we have the choice with each page to check to allow comments (as is typical across wordpress and it seems such a simple change), that would be great.
I will check back in after I figure out how to do the child themes and determine if that works.
Thank you,
JuliaFabulous! Thank you! I had tried the embed numbers for width and height so maybe adding the max width made a difference. I don’t know, but I’m grateful that it looks much better now. Thanks!!
Hi, when I tried the icon youtube/vimeo buttons from the theme, it didn’t look right on computer screen so I left it with embedded/iframe code for now as suggested on youtube/vimeo sites instead. However, I’d prefer to use the shortcode from theme icon buttons if I can get it looking good so it will adjust for mobile. For these particular videos, it wasn’t big deal on mobile because they are really more for audio, but for future online course tutorial videos, it will matter so I need to learn how to fix it. If I type in the width and height that you suggested, it is cutting off part of the height. I tried several other numbers as well and also with no set height and width and it seems whatever I try, it still cuts off part of the height. I would like it to display as it currently does on computer screens (the iframe code from both youtube and vimeo worked great for that), but also adjust for mobile. Any suggestions as to how to get the height and width to display correctly on computer screen if I use the shortcode? My old site (which was twenty ten theme I think) always auto adjusted for devices without me doing anything special other than inserting the video links, but new site with virtue theme doesn’t seem to work that way. Any tips to get it looking great on both computer and mobile is greatly appreciated! Maybe I just don’t know the best numbers to put into height and width? It didn’t look good when I used the same numbers in shortcode from iframe code. Thank you!

In reply to: [Virtue] video embed resizing for mobile devicesOkay, Hannah… my first time posting here. Figured out how to start a new thread here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/video-display-issues-with-virtue-theme-and-different-devicesscreens?replies=1#post-8345125
Thanks.

In reply to: [Virtue] video embed resizing for mobile devicesHi, I’m having the same issue with mobile videos and sizes. I originally used the suggested youtube and vimeo share code (with iframe), which looks great on computer screen, but does not adjust to mobile well. I then tried the solution suggested above using the embed icons and setting size, but that does not look good on computer screen preview. Is there a happy compromise? My site is https://www.thrivetrue.com and the page I’m working on currently is thrivetrue.com/connection-visualization. I have left it as originally done with code pasted from youtube and vimeo for now, but would like to fix it and will need this info for several other pages. My old wordpress.com site and theme adjusted fine with embed, but since switching to www.ads-software.com and virtue theme, videos are not automatically adjusting for the device. Thanks in advance for any help.
