@dbukowski it sounds like you may have other issues if you can’t access the WP dashboard. Corrupt plugin?
Here are the steps I took to revert to 4.8.3 without having to do a backup restore.Site backup
Download 4.8.3
(I used File Manager in cPanel for the following)
Upload 4.8.3 to your site directory
Unzip 4.8.3
Open the WordPress folder
Select all files in the WordPress folder
Move all selected files to your site directory
Delete the empty WordPress folder and the wp-config-sample.php fileThis worked for me, but again if you can’t get to the WP dashboard I’m not sure if this will help.
I forgot, let us know if you remain on WP 4.9 and the Elementor update fixed the issue.
I started a thread about the same issue and the developer replied in the thread. They just put out an update today that may help. I ended up reverting back to WP 4.8.3 per another user’s recommendation and it fixed the issue. I’m sticking to 4.8.3 for now just to be safe.
@edgarl, thanks for the tip. I did the same and reverted back to WP 4.8.3 and all is normal again.
Email sent with Sys Info.
ThanksDone, without success. Did the following:
Cleared WP, server and browser cache
Deactivaed/Reactivated Elementor Plugin
Retried in latest version of Chrome and FireworksAlready running 1.8.4
I had the same issue. This is what I got from another support.
Please open your page in the admin panel from the Pages menu, scroll the page down and in the Page Settings section disable Header Overlay option. After that you will be able to edit the top section of your Home page using the Elementor editor. After all required changes are done and saved in the Elementor, you can enable the Header Overlay option again.
Good luck. I’m having issues trying to edit backgrounds and overlays after WP 9.
