Thank you for responding–I appreciate it! Not using a firewall or cache plugin, but there is a cache being used by the web host (WP Engine). I just cleared all caches on the server and that has resolved the issue. I’m so relieved it was an easy fix! Loving your plugin. ??

Thank you!! Yes, we have the “Subtitles” plug-in installed and, sure enough, it looks like this was only happening on posts that had a subtitle set. I didn’t think this plug-in would interfere, because the subtitle isn’t used in the permalink. Whatever you did in the latest update has resolved it. I appreciate your support!

It would be nice if you provided support. No reply in 2 weeks, and the problem happened again today, so I’m shopping for a new plug-in.

Thanks for the quick reply. What’s interesting is the icons inserted beneath the post by the previous plug-in I was using (which used img tags but has been updated to use ad tracking, which I won’t tolerate) didn’t get picked up by the emailer. I’d just as soon not have the sharing buttons show up in the email, but I’m not sure how to control it. The Auto Chimp plug-in grabs the post and sticks it into a Mail Chimp template.

This is a deal breaker for me, as well. I’ve been using this plugin for > 5 years, now performance stinks and all these trackers on page load make our site look sleezy. I’m looking for a replacement.

Thank you, Synved! The %%url_trimmed%% worked as soon as I updated to new version 1.6.9 of the plugin. Now all of the blog posts are giving a proper Facebook sharing page and URL when clicked. I really appreciate your help fixing this!

I’ve done some experimenting, and I’m having better luck using this for the Facebook sharing URL: https://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=%%url%%

However, Facebook doesn’t seem to like the trailing “/” character in the URL. Is there a way to configure this to leave off the trailing %2F character? Seems like it will work perfectly if that can be done.

When I do some searching online for “https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php parameters”, I get articles that talk about Facebook no longer permitting parameters with sharer.php. Do you need to re-work the plug-in to support Facebook’s changes?

It’s not just this post, but most of the posts that get published that have this problem. We have not changed the URL of any of these posts that are exhibiting the problem. If you try today’s post, and all of the other Recent Posts down the right-hand side of the page for at least the past week, the Facebook share button does not provide a proper link to that post.

Gosh, I wish I could be more helpful on the merge codes. I just don’t remember exactly how I did it (and they’ve changed the template authoring interface since then). When I look at the template, I see that I used these merge codes to insert the title and body of the post into the template:

*|RSSITEM:TITLE|*
*|RSSITEM:CONTENT_FULL|*

I came up with what has turned out to be a clever solution for our purposes. AutoChimp allows you to only mail out posts that are assigned to a certain category, so I added a new category and set it as the default for all new posts, and then set AutoChimp to only send out posts set to that category. This will prevent any old posts from being republished if they are tweaked for minor corrections. ??

Thanks – I found that the NextScripts SNAP plug-in had an option for setting a default image, so I set that and deactivated yours (sorry), and that resolved it. I didn’t have a lot of time for troubleshooting, so it could have just been an incompatibility between these two plug-ins. Thanks for the response, though.
