I figured out how to make a layout part and create a hook but I don’t know what short code to put in the text area of the Hook.

I also tried the codex, but none of this seems to go together the same way.

I am just trying to figure out if I am smart enough to do this or not.

I even tried to create an html version of it and put it in the header widget are with a Custom html widget, no luck.

It only shows up in GWT. In analytics I can look for traffic on that URL and find it. I have to search manually, because it is not indexed, but I can find it.

In GWT in Search under Indexing it says it is not a part of my property. It won’t be indexed until the 301 error goes away.

CloudFlare says it is because I have not set a Site Preference in GWT. examples”

I set a preference for NO www and it still won’t index it. There is no preference for http and httpS, so I could not change that/

I don’t know what is going on. maybe I will put in a ticket instead of asking on the cloudflare board.

Is there a way to suppress the featured image on a single post?

So the featured image would show up in a list created by a search or a clicking a category but on the post itself, it would not show up?

(if I take it out completely, than there would be no image on the index page where it is shown as an “important” article, it would look odd next to the other articles that all had pictures to accentuate them)

Here is something weird. In the editor, the image wont move to center, right, or left. On the published page it seems to be wrapping to the right.

It looks like it works but you can’t see it until you publish.

Which leads me to this question, I think my margins may be too narrow. That might explain my inability to justify things.
About how wide should a page be? Maybe I should remove a column from the right side (like the Category column).

On the other hand, I was able to justify my other images on other pages wherever I wanted to. So maybe it is still not functioning correctly.

I don’t like Main, Top, or Footer navigation. I like having categories in the sidebar.
The problem is that there are over 100 outgoing links if I do it that way.

Is there a way to make the “Category” widget that goes in the sidebar only link to categories and not the posts in those categories too. THat would reduce the outgoing link count

Is there a way to create a menu out of only categories and then use Custom HTML in a sidebar widget that would only link to categories. I have already done that but I don’t like the Main, Top, or Footer locations.

I also ran a check when using a Menu with just categories, the 2 pages I checked all came back with under 100 URLs. So it looks like that is good.

Any ideas on how to get my newly created, category only, menu into the sidebar where I want it.

I also have an off-topic (sort of) question. Nowadays it seem everyone has a browser plugin so they can post to multiple social channels at once, do you think having bookmarking icons on my site is important. They are also java script or something and I get dinged for them when doing page load speed tests.
I am thinking I should get rid of them, unless you have a different opinion.

Yeah, somethign went wrong with Updraft. I set it to Fortnightly updates but it scheduled a bunch of backups anyway. OR Updraft interacted with something else and together they did something weird.
I am not sure what happened but don’t want to blame the backup program without real proof.

I did not think about this but I had my email suspended a few weeks ago because someone sent a bunch of emails through it. THat is why I got Eli’s Gotmls and WordFence.
I did not check the image library until I updated the post, maybe it happened when the person broke in and sent the emails and I never saw it. I don’t blog professionally. I don’t do stuff to my site everyday or even every week.

As for the Norton blacklist.
I can probably just navigate to Norton and ask them why or that they re-scan it.

Still, I need to figure out how to fix the image library. Will restoring an old backup from before the hack fix it, or do those backups not include the image library.

Additional:
WHat would be the purpose of breaking into my site to send emails. The host sees it and shuts it down anyway, so I doubt they could send that many out. Is there another purpose. My site is not big or important, so it has no sensitive information or great security to go around that someone could brag about getting past. Is it really worth the time to break in just to send emails?

Why is it blacklisted?
How do I get it removed. I clicked the removal request and it looks like they want me to pay for their service. Sort of like what the hackers do to remove malware from Windows 10. A pay me or your computer won’t work type of deal.
It said 8 sites were fine but Norton had a problem with me.
