I’m using Spam Karma suplemented by the Akismet – Spam Karma plug in. (https://www.sebbi.de/archives/2006/01/31/spam-karma-2-akismet-plugin/)

So far, nothing has managed to get by the combination of blocks.

I’ve password protected the wp-admin directory after a hacker broke last April. Now they have to guess the directory user name and password before they can even start trying to register as a user or hack into my user account.

I think SK may override WP’s moderation. I’d try adding the guys IP to SK’s blacklist. Go to SK2, then pick blacklist, then add the IP to “IP blacklist”.

I’m not entirely sure how SK’s blacklist works, but at least he’ll get negative SK points.

Now, I need to try to figure out if I can install something that will autodelete trackbacks from pharmaceutical spam. Is there anything that will lower the karma score of a trackback based on the wp blacklist? I really prefer to moderate the minimum amount of stuff manually.

I’m having exactly the same problem with technorati tags described above. I recently “claimed” by blogs, and technorati immediately stopped registering my tags.

Technorati did register my tags before I claimed my blog.

I have noticed that categories show on my feed page at this address:

I have a knitting blog. I have no graphics in the header– that makes me an exception. Most knitters care a lot about fashion statements and appearance. ??

I wouldn’t bother editing “spam words found” to something hostile or profame. Real spammers don’t have delicate feelings and will just laugh off any profanity. Honest visitors who accidentally type something the spam list caught will be offended.
