Thank you setzer. It is. You are right. It works with Twenty Twelve theme but not with tdsimple. It is really a shame for such a good plugin.

What I did is to activate the plug-in, and then dragged the “side matter” to the “Main Sidebar” on the right-hand-side of Widgets panel (Appearance>Widgets). In the post, I inserted [ref]This is a sidenote.[/ref] in the main text. In the preview page, I can see there was a superscript 1 there but there was no a sidenote in either the right-hand-side margin or the bottom of the page.

Thank you for reply. I actually also tried Twenty Twelve and Thematic themes but still can’t get the sidenotes working. Please help.
