I just reverted to an older version and it works again — I know that’s not a good solution, I just can’t spend more time trying to fix the 3.8 version. I think my theme probably has some javascript issues but since I didn’t develop it I can’t figure it out. Thanks for your help!

Just did it — backed everything up, deleted all files through FTP except wp-content, wp-config and .htaccess and then re-loaded a fresh install of everything else from WP 3.8. Still no luck ??

Just looked at JS again with actual theme and plugins activated and I’m getting just the same JS errors:

JQMIGRATE: Logging is active jquery-migrate.js?ver=1.2.1:21
event.returnValue is deprecated. Please use the standard event.preventDefault() instead.

Getting less under that scenario:

So not sure what those other JQMigrate lines are about…

Just renamed all plugins folders to “plugins.hold” and made sure I had a default theme activated, still no luck.

Am having some issues with connecting to FTP, will keep trying and get back to you asap. Thanks for the help.

Just tried that — deactivated all plug-ins through the admin interface (can do through FTP if that makes a difference) and switched to a default them (upgraded Twenty-Eleven) and no luck.

I’m having the same problem as alzabo after upgrading to 3.8 (blank editor screens). I tried all of your suggested solutions and was unable to get to a fix. When I uploaded a fresh download of WordPress 3.8 I just overwrote everything except wp-content, wp-config.php and .htaccess (rather than delete the other stuff first).

My website is a nonprofit organization, https://reconciliationproject.org. If you go to almost any sub-page of the site you’ll also notice that I have the black diamond question marks.

A few other pieces of info:
– I’ve checked the problem in Chrome and FF (exists in both)
– adding define(‘SCRIPT_DEBUG’, true); to wp-config did not fix the problem
