  • Ran into the same problem myself after the upgrade to 2.1. Was surprised to have to dig around so much to find an answer, it can’t be an uncommon problem.

So glad someone found the problem, and even gladder that we don’t have tons of comments on our blog. Now to add/delete a comment on each post….

The SK2 upgrade took mere seconds. I’d already upgraded all my plugins and missed doing SK2 somehow so I thought all my plugins were up to date and never would’ve poked around there for a solution.

*found that all you have to do is click on a comment and click the edit button instead of adding and deleting a new comment

If you want it hosted on your own server, a plugin like Organizer is great. You have to set it up for each user, but it works very nicely and gives you complete control to allow them into all folders or just their own personal one. It also lets you deny them delete privelages.

That is just beautiful! I’d been wanting to try out bbpress but didn’t have the time to fiddle with it just yet.

With your theme making it look so nice, I can see if my users will be able to survive without their avatars and such. phpBB has been causing me much aggravation lately. Some simplicity will hopefully put a little sanity back in running a forum.

bbpress being in Alpha doesn’t worry me, since I see it in action every day here!

I believe both of these have earlier versions that work with versions before WP 2.0, if not it’s an incentive to upgrade ??

Two plugins I use in conjunction are:
    Organizer
    Role Manager

With the addition of Role Manager, you can give each person and/or user level the exact permissions they need in Organizer.

You’ll have to make a user setting for each user individually if you want them to be able to view only their own folder of images in the dashboard.

Users will have to upload then copy and paste the URL to their image, of course.

The plugin mentioned there eliminates that problem, as well as ads more navigation to the next/previous post links.

I just added the page nav a few days ago, but it was very basic. This really suits the site more, and with a few modifications looks wonderful. Thanks ??

Just a note, the ? ? need to be replaced with « and » to work properly.

I just plod along and check my work often in both browsers. When I run into a problem I just google the code and usually something helpful pops up. Eventually some of it sticks in my head, and whatever falls out I just google again ??

But no, I know of no place that details everything you need to do to be cross browser compatible. Satoshi’s right, it’s all trial and error.

I was having the same trouble, but I’ve built another site with WP and was just having a blonde moment ?? Glad to see the post, it got me back on track.

The directions posted here work, perhaps you are catching the wrong .htaccess file? It should be the one in your main WP folder.

Kafkaesqui that was exactly it! Thanks for the link, I was unable to find that on my own. I know next to nothing about databases but it was so straightforward once the problem was clear.

locomote, my problem was with the 0 archive, but your problem looks identical. You must have duplicates of those two months, it shouldn’t be too hard to sort them out and delete one set.

    Really hate to bump…but…

Anyone have a clue? I’ve been through every file I could think of, and sifted through the database and am still clueless about how to fix this.

I’ve just run into the same problem…if anyone knows how to delete those dummy archives it would be much appreciated ??
