In reply to: Site works on Bluehost but not GoDaddy? Thanks for your suggestions. This is already my second fresh install of WordPress. When the first one had this problem, I tried starting again from scratch, and according to the hosting provider, there was nothing missing the first time. As a test, I’ve tried removing the security keys and putting in the default ‘put your unique phrase here’ but no luck. What next?

In reply to: Site works on Bluehost but not GoDaddy?Everything is there. I can see the posts and their content in the admin section of the site, and I can see all the files, images, etc in the control panel.
whoops, wrong url, should be https://financialplanningforum.org
I’m restoring the old site for now, so you won’t see the wordpress homepage for now.
Any chance the problem is a missing .htaccess file? I don’t see one, though I do see another hidden file… NOt sure how to fix this.
the wordpress files are all still on the site, I’m just renaming index.php to index-temp.php until I Can figure something out.
I tried restoring the backup database, but got a lengthy error message. I’m afraid I’ll mess everything up worse if I continue messing with that…
Help and advice still very much welcome!
ThanksI’m at a loss. It was following those original instructions that got me into this mess in the first place because my browser would not let me update the blog URL.
How could it be that the links look correct but only the homepage shows up (everything else gets a page not found error). Check it our for yourself if you like:

thanks
I was so excited to see the results, instead all I got was: Error: 403 Forbidden by robots.txt
Thanks I do have a backup, but now I have access to the admin, I am hopeful that getting the other pages (besides homepages) to show up won’t be too hard… The path looks correct when I click on the other page links from the homepage, any suggestions as to what I should check next?
Found it! I am in! First good news in a while, thank you thank you!
Now, to get the site working properly!
I appreciate you sticking with me on this – I’ve changed the passwords, reloaded the login page several times, but still no luck
edited to add: looking at the tutorial, I see I did not do the step involving MD5, but I can’t find the dropdown menu that is indicated in the image…?
Okay, here’s something interesting: in the user_url field, the address is the OLD path for one of the two passwords. The other is blank. Do I need to concern myself with this, or just change the password(s)?
Thanks,
I have gone through this tutorial already and the changes are already made (I did not have to make edits to the database to get those two settings correct.) But I did notice there are two other settings in the datebase wp_options section that still point to the old site location: fileupload_realpath and fileupload_url – should I change these too? I no very little about how databases work, so I don’t want to mess arond with it unless I’m sure it’s the right thing to do.
What else might I be missing?

In reply to: new install, try any new theme: screen goes blank whiteThanks so much! I went with their automatic install, and there were no options on versions. I tried a manual install, and it didn’t work. So I’m going to advise this client to switch hosts. Thanks again! I really appreciate the help!
