@isayuh91 – As with all software, it’s never perfect. When it was first launched, we never had plans to develop this project any further. However, due to high user demand, we decided to continue adding features.

At some point, we realised this was unsustainable and decided to add a PRO version. The shortcode section being available in the free version was an error on our part. You’re probably one of the few people who got that version of Portum (we addressed this with a subsequent release in a few days after we realised the mistake).

The only reason we removed the “basic slider” was because it was based on owlSlider and we wanted to rely solely on one slickSlider to implement all of our sliders. This would make things faster (no need to load another JS library), but SlickSlider is way more lightweight compared to OwlSlider.

As I previously said – v1.0.4 made significant changes to everything we were doing with Portum. Complete backwards compatibility was, unfortunately, out of the question at that point so that’s why some stuff was “broken” after the update to 1.0.4.

I realise we should have taken better care with this but the version you got had no plans of being developed further.

I’m sorry for your troubles and would love to assist you if you want to transition to the new 1.0.4 version.

@isayuh91 – sorry that was your experience. 1.0.4 was completely reengineered (front & back-end) and a backwards compatibility was simply not possible. However, version 1.0.4 fixes the filtering issue you’ve reported (it might seem like a trivial issue, but to fix that single issue we had to rewrite most of frameworks’ code).

In the new version, slides also have a filter. So you should be able to add sliders onto as many pages as you want, with the filtering functionality (that is working fine in 1.0.4).

Ultimately, this is mostly free software and we’re doing our best to make sure everything works fine for everyone. Adding PRO features is necessary so we can turn this “not great, just okay” product into a great one.

Again, sorry for the poor experience you’ve had with Portum.

@justanotherdev – Thanks for the review. We realised the UI wasn’t exactly our strongest suit and decided to make it better ?? That’s why, Modula’s 2.0 back-end UI is using WP core components.

More so, we’ve got an amazing grid builder that allows you to freely resize your images. This update should hit all users sometime next week, so, not much more to wait until a refresh UI comes along ??
