  • Update: I got it figured out! I’m not sure why, but on my site the code I needed to install was different (header rather than site-header).

    Thank you anyway!

    RESOLVED

    Hi @zoonini!

I love this simple solution. For some reason, it isn’t working on my site. Any guesses why?

Here is the URL of a specific page I’d like to remove the header from:

Thank you in advance for all your help!

    Hello again!

Thanks so much for the update. I checked for an update, installed it, and the images are working on mobile. Thank you so much!

Just as an FYI: The update stripped out my CSS customizations (colors, buttons, etc). No big deal — I know that can happen with updates. I will let you know if something strange happens when I try to change the CSS again, but otherwise it looks like problem solved!

    Thank you!

    Hello!

I appreciate all of your work on this. Are there any updates? I have not made any discoveries on my end. Thank you for all your help!

    Hello!

Thank you so much for your quick reply.

My plugins are listed below — also note that I do NOT have Jetpack currently activated:

    Contact Form 7
    SiteOrigin page builder
    Site origin widgets bundle
    Toolset types
    Wordpress Importer

I’m not sure if any of those would cause this. Possibly Contact Form 7 (I have a form embedded in the page)? I just deactivated Toolset Types because this theme does not use it.

I also edited the CSS in the header/hero area with additional padding, spacing, and colors. Could that be the culprit?

    Thank you!

That works perfectly! Sorry I missed that section. Excellent plugin!

Thank you so much for those resources. I always know these things are out there, but have such a difficult time finding the right one!

    Thanks again

Actually, I noticed P2 earlier today — it’s a great theme, and it’s actually what got me interested in this sort of functionality. I’d like to create my own for various reasons. In particular, how would I make the content entry box more functional? With the easy-to-post content tools (videos, pictures, etc) that are available in the actual Dashboard text editor?

    Simple.

Your problem, Ed, is your theme. It’s set up so that when you create a “Page,” it still has the comments and post data (date, author, etc). Many themes do this. I use WordPress classic because I’m an old softy, and it does this.

In some themes, you’ll be able to go into the “Edit Themes” section and select the “Page.php” file, then remove the “Comments” function and, if you like, the postdata functions.

But it can be trickier. In WordPress Classic, for example, there is no Page.php. The page stuff is folded into the main Index.php. If this is the case with your theme, I suggest you don’t try to mess with the page area. Too many things might go wrong.

You need to find yourself a theme that you KNOW, by default, has pages without comments or posting info. Check out https://themes.wordpress.net/ to see a huge list of quality themes to choose from. You can click on “Test Run,” then look at a particular themes pages to see if they have comments or not. If not, you’re in business!

If you absolutely must have your current theme, make sure it has an independent “Page.php” file, and editing the comments out should be pretty self explanatory once you get in there. Always refer to forums if you have problems. Always back up your files.

And everyone else — unless I’m completely wrong — don’t concentrate on the phrase “blank pages” — he doesn’t actually want the pages to be blank, he wants his contact info on them. What he wants is no comments/no post date, etc… “Blank” in that way.

    = )

Could try the Contextual Related Posts plugin:

I’m not positive this works with all WP versions, but it seems to at least go up to 2.0, if not better.

    Solved!

Thanks a lot for your help–turns out that the Classic sidebar I was using was *not* widgetized.

Another odd thing… I have three themes: Default Kubrick, WordPress Classic, and Silver Light.

The sidebar widgets work with the default theme, but not Classic (on which it worked yesterday), and not Silver Light, which I hadn’t tried until just now.

A little odd. Is there a simple way to reinstall the widget, or would that not even make a difference?

I’m only using the sidebar widget that came with the download, nothing else.

BUT I should mention that besides floating the sidebar to the left, I also changed the code to call the sidebar before the content. It’s being called from my Header.PHP file, before the <body>. I don’t think this would cause the widget to cease functionality, would it?
