In reply to: [Basic Google Maps Placemarks] BGMP 1.10-rc1 availableHi Ian
Thanks for rc 1.10 which works fine as far as I can tell on both staging, and now live, sites. Our theme was recently updated, and I think that actually resolved the underlying conflict problem.
Thanks for being so persistent in working to resolve the problems!

In reply to: [Basic Google Maps Placemarks] BGMP 1.9.3-rc2 availableHi Ian
Thanks for the latest RC and thank you for persevering with this problem. Everything looks good – just 1 minor blip I thought I would mention (rather than just finding a work-round myself):
check: https://www.pilates4life.co.uk/courses/maps/west-drayton/
the “-” in the placemark name is now rendered as –, not something that happened with earlier versions of the plugin.
Hope this helps – and thanks again for top-drawer support!
Hi Ian,
like majato, removing wpautop() worked for me on our staging server. All looks good now with 1.9.3 so have added it to the live site so you can see the result

hope this helps

In reply to: [Basic Google Maps Placemarks] BGMP 1.9.3-rc1 availableOur staging server is on localhost so sharing is a problem. What can I check for you?

In reply to: [Basic Google Maps Placemarks] BGMP 1.9.3-rc1 availableSorry Ian, my comment wasn’t very precise. By ‘blank’ page, I meant that not only did the map disappear from the page so did everything else below the page title – text, graphics. Header image, menus (above and below the header) all as expected, the problem is confined to the body of the page.

In reply to: [Basic Google Maps Placemarks] BGMP 1.9.3-rc1 availableJust installed 1.9.3 on our staging server – sad to say it doesn’t work -just blank pages I’m afraid.
Sorry
Thanks for such an honest response. Have reverted back to 1.8 and all is well.
v1.9.2 looks ok on the staging server (although it should be noted the staging server is not a full replica of the live site – I’m still working on that. Let me know when you have a new version to test.
Fantastic support Ian, I really appreciate it. Deactivating the other map plug-in hasn’t changed anything.
Thanks for the fast update Ian. Have upgraded and error message has gone, but maps still not loading on live site.
Will look at the duplicate API issue, but duplication was also there before the 1.9.1 upgrade and all plug-ins seem to co-exist then.
Hi Ian, I have the same problem as majato – maps not loading after updating to v1.9.1 that worked well before the update. I’m also using 4.3.2 and W3TC, but clearing all caches (and on the browser) has not resolved the problem.
I’m just in the process of setting up a staging server, so on a clean Wp install with 2011 theme (and no other plug-ins) I get a loaded map but the same error:-
“Basic Google Maps Placemarks shortcode error: is not a valid category.”
The short code I am using is [bgmp-map center=”uxbridge uk” zoom=”13″ height=”300″ width=”750″], so is a category now a required field?

Thanks for all your help

All my sidebars disappeared completely with TwentyEleven – but the player was in the main window – might be worth a try?@enigmaweb
jQuery 1.7.2 is loaded into the header (by the theme I think). I read somewhere that loading it twice (even the same version) can cause problems – is that your experience? Could your plug-in check for the presence of jQuery before loading it again? (sorry, I have no idea whether this is a stupid suggestion).@enigmaweb
Thanks for looking at the site and your helpful comments. I had already tried de-activating all the plug-ins before posting the thread – it made no difference. Debugging didn’t show any errors on the page, BUT…I used the Live Preview feature to test the page with the TwentyEleven theme and lo! the player works as advertised! I notice that your plug-in loads jQuery 1.7.2, but I think our Suffusion theme already does this. Is this a possible cause of the problem?
Just another thought on @originweb’s special character problem – using v1.6 the player doesn’t show when I use a carriage return in the Description field; happens with Chrome, Safari, Firefox and IE9.
