In reply to: [Link Library] Importing links and categories from WordPress.com?WHile writing this it occurred to me that the Import blogroll with categories code could be merged into Link Library as an import functionality, perhaps an idea for 3.0.

In reply to: [Link Library] Importing links and categories from WordPress.com?Thanks for your comments, Yannick!
I found why the import in Links Manager didn’t work as expected. The current Link Manager import only proposes to use one single category and import all links into it. My links library has links with many categories.
The Import blogroll with categories plugin ads a new importer, but has a bug that results in duplicate links so it’s still not perfect, but I’ve contacted the author and will look at the code over the weekend if I don’t hear back from him.

In reply to: [Link Library] Importing links and categories from WordPress.com?For now I’ve installed the Links Manager plugin which implements the same functionality that has been announced to be retired from WordPress.com for some time now, and imported links into it as described in that link.
This doesn’t work (categories ignored, results in big list of duplicate links).
I’d still really like to import this into a plugin that’s well maintained and is continously developped. ??
Thank you for the clarification! Perhaps that should be in the FAQ. I happen to have requirements that include other languages, but I love the plugin functionality!
If proper localization support can be evaluated in man-hours, perhaps people interested in that could pay for it. I know I would contribute!
In any case, I believe it’s important this is clear so people trying it aren’t frustrated when they find out.

In reply to: [BackUpWordPress] Using SSL self-signed certificates, I get an errorThank you, it seems the backups are still being done as I see archives and get regular notifications, etc.
This seems only cosmetic when accessing the backups control panel, I still think an option to override it may be helpful in some contexts.

In reply to: [WP to diaspora] Suggestion: Add WordPress article tags as hashtagsI am excited the strings to be translated today included lots of mentions of tags ?? Thank you for your work!

In reply to: [WP to diaspora] Can I choose a category or tag to be the origin of posts?Maybe I am confusing pull vs. push publishing, I realize WP to Diaspora pushes to Diaspora (not the other way around).
Probably tagging my posts Diaspora if/when they are posted is OK, that way I can find which ones I have posted there. This is different than my original suggestion, though.

In reply to: [WP to diaspora] Can I choose a category or tag to be the origin of posts?Yes, I meant a default option. It’s nice by default it’s enabled to share the post to Diaspora, but if I could configure only posts tagged “diaspora” (or whatever custom tag) to be shared there, it would ignore those that aren’t.

In reply to: [qTranslate X] Bitcoin donations?@john, I don’t sell anything nor do I provide payment processor services. If you use Bitpay, check their conditions. Otherwise you can just setup your own wallet and decide what to do, you don’t need any intermediary. The software is completely free, it assigns you an address the first time you use it, and it lets you re-send any Bitcoins received to anyone else doing the same.

In reply to: [qTranslate X] Bitcoin donations?I am sorry if I assumed you knew about Bitcoin and you didn’t. You can watch a short video introducing Bitcoin at https://bitcoin.org.
There are several ways to accept Bitcoin. You could setup your own wallet and publish its address (using free open source software Electrum on a PC or Bitcoin Wallet on Android, for example).
Several WordPress plugins help integrate direct payments or via third-party payment processors like Bitpay which help releasing funds to a regular bank account or you can just buy goods/services in Bitcoin directly or forward Bitcoin among the developers, etc..
I encourage you to research this and experiment with small amounts, let me know if you have any questions.

In reply to: [Book Review] [Request] Please consider supporting the ISNDB.com APII believe if you compare Google’s Terms and conditions and other agreements needed to enter their developer program, vs. ISBNdb’s at https://isbndb.com/account/terms you will see a huge difference. The effort and legal implications (not to mention privacy) implications of only being able to use Google services in any WordPress plugin have become important reasons not to.
Having different choices for the source of this data is important regardless of other considerations. [OpenLibrary](https://openlibrary.org/developers) also seems like another good candidate, perhaps Archive.org would even provide funding for you to add support to their API in your plugin.
Would you consider setting up a small fundraising for this? Could you evaluate the effort required to develop this and maintain this? I know I would contribute to it, perhaps your plugin users would too.
Restart what?
My ratings were (and still are) accurate at the time I wrote them. Regardless, there doesn’t seem to be a way to change them.
I’ll post new ratings once I’ve used & tested the new version.
Excellent new, I’ve posted this to /r/Bitcoin and a few other places. Looking forward to testing it.
