    hi

    Thanks for your reply.
I can send you my site info to your email or via a secure channel.
I will never post my site detailed information on a public forum.
    That’s irresponsible.

More importantly, how will my site details help you find out why your plugin worked on my staging site but not on the production site? They are CLONES with the same settings and plugins.

If you don’t know the answer and just searching blindly, I’ll leave it.

    thanks

    hi
    Thanks for your reply.

I always update WC on my staging site first. However, the database updates are not received at the same time on each site. I got it on the production site only at that time, and there is no way for me to test it on staging.

Secondly, please note that testing of my WooCommerce store on the staging site is very limited as this site is not live, it is not public, and no one can place orders there. So I can’t test anything to do with orders, payments, checkout or downloads of the purchased products on this site.

I don’t want to spend any more time on this issue. Since you can’t think of the cause, we need to assume that it was a one-off bug which won’t happen again.

    thanks

    hi
No, I can’t disable WordPress auto updates in my cpanel.

This kind of automatic updates can’t be captured by EUM.

    That is incorrect.

You have missed what I said at the beginning – that this update was captured on my staging site, which has the same EUM plugin with the same settings. I got an email notification and had to update it manually.
I did NOT get that email from my production site, which updated WP automatically.

So the question is – how come the EUM plugin prevented WP auto update on my staging site, yet did not prevent it on my production site, with all the settings being exactly the same?

    ok, I found it.

Unfortunately, the WordPress auto update was not captured by the log.

    hi

    thanks for your reply.

Where will I find the update logs? In my WordPress or in your plugin? I can’t see them anywhere.

    Please provide the exact location.

    hi

    thanks for your reply.
I’m certain that this issue was caused during the recent update of my WC database, be it as a one off error. Still, I would strongly encourage all WC users to check their store links after each database update.

A couple of issues still remain:
    1. How can I backup my WC store separately from backing up the whole site?
    2. There is no way to run a database update as a test, even on my staging site, as my database there is different from my production site. It’s not a plugin update that I can test first on staging

Speaking of updates – why are you forcing users to install the WC Updates Manager? Automatic updates are dangerous, as you well know, so your prompt to install it is counterintuitive and counterproductive, which is surprising, really.

There is no way I would ever install it. I’ve had some serious problems with your plugin updates in the past so will not risk them again. I don’t like being forced to install anything on my website, either.

      thanks for your reply.

Still, you continue to confuse Google indexing with Google ranking, I’m not sure why as these two separate issues and my question is NOT about Google ranking, so your comment that “Google ranking depends on many factors” is completely irrelevant to this conversation.

      hi @maybellyne

      Thanks for your reply.

All my pages may be showing up in Google search now, after I requested reindexing. The current situation is not the issue here.

My question is how this could have happened in the first place.

As the SEO plugin developer, you are an expert on SEO, Google indexing etc. So I will break down my questions:

      • My understanding is that Yoast SEO plugin facilitates the website’s visibility and searchability on Google (and other search engines), which includes submitting the updated sitemaps to Google each time there are any changes to it – is it correct?
      • Has the Yoast SEO plugin I have installed on my website, failed in some in some way, while it didn’t alert me to any issues?
      • After the website with every page has been indexed and manually re-indexed, how is it possible that some of those pages simply drop off Google within few weeks?

So my question is not about any missing pages at present, but about your expert analysis and advice on this issue.

      hi

      that’s not correct.

There IS a visual editor for the content.

      Screenshots.

I insert the R symbol in superscript – looks ok – SAVE – and then it immediately reverts back to inline.

For the benefit of the YOAST SEO plugin community on this forum – I have found the answer to my question.

The YOAST SEO plugin DOES have, in fact, a feature to set the product image for SOCIAL MEDIA in the correct size. You can upload a generic product image and you can also customise it for each individual product.

It is buried in the Settings under Product, and it is only a available on paid (premium) plans – which is fine; the key point however is that it is there, after all.

Social appearance Determine how your products should look on social media by default. You can always customise the settings for individual products in the Yoast SEO sidebar or metabox

      so there you go.

      Now this thread is resolved.

      @jdembowski

Here, you are an opensource collaborator trying to solve your problem for the benefit of the community at large.

I totally agree with you. I’m trying to solve the problem for the benefit of all WC users experiencing the same issue, and have been trying for the past 6 weeks.

I’m not seeking a higher level support that is available only for paid users. I haven’t heard from anyone yet, by the way, that my request exceeds the free support level. If that was the case, of course I would seek a paid support elsewhere.

What I am seeking however, is relevant replies, rather than repetitions and advice that is not relevant or simply wrong, as this doesn’t serve anyone – not me, not WC, not other users, not the WP community.

My expectations are not about receiving a high level paid support free of charge, but about the overall quality of support, which I think is not unreasonable on this important and very helpful forum, where we are all striving to maintain the high quality and standards of communication and support.

If my request exceeds the free support, I’m very happy to be told so. End of story. Dragging this topic for 6 weeks however with poor quality replies is draining and necessary. That was my point.

Thanks for your comment but I believe that you have misunderstood the nature of my expectations.

I have just received a reply from the plugin support which is exactly what I have been seeking.
