Hope you are doing well. Here I have just checked with the same scenario but getting all ok, it’s opening a new tab while opening as the mentioned settings.

Please, make sure you are using the latest versions of the Free (4.6.4) plugin.It seems like a caching issue.
To regenerate assets, you can go to wp-admin -> Essential Addons then, switch to the ‘Tools’ tab and hit the ‘Regenerate Assets’ button. Hope you are doing well. We don’t support FontAwesome directly from our theme. If you need to add FontAwesome icons you can do it easily by adding a child theme of flexia theme’s.
You can create a child theme from here with just a click: https://flexia.pro/child-theme-generator/
and then enqueue the FontAwesome cdn from here: https://cdnjs.com/libraries/font-awesome
To enqueue css or js files in theme you can follow this url: https://developer.www.ads-software.com/themes/advanced-topics/child-themes/#enqueueing-styles-and-scripts

Hope you are doing well.Well, You can use the following shortcode to display certain categories:
Please use as mentioned here for multiple category: [betterdocs_category_grid terms=“1, 2, 3”]
Use these code for single category: [betterdocs_category_grid terms=1]
1,2,3 would be the category IDs in this case. To find your category ID, simply go to BetterDocs -> Categories. Hover your mouse over one of the categories. You will find the URL below. On the browser, the link looks for the tag_ID=X. That’s your category ID. Simply then use this ID as I have mentioned before in the shortcode. Here’s the screenshot: https://d.pr/i/qR1fXs

Note that I have also checked with 7 images for the same scenario but did not get any issues as you mentioned.Beside make sure that you are using updated versions of Essential Addons on your website. The current version of Essential Addons Free 4.0.4 on your website and if Lazyload plugin available, please check once after disable it.
Afterward, make sure to regenerate assets. To do that, you can go to wp-admin -> Essential Addons then, switch to the ‘Tools’ tab and hit the ‘Regenerate Assets’ button. Check out this screenshot: https://prnt.sc/pvozsx
