Yes, I understand that.. I always try to keep the number of plugins as minimum as possible.

The recent hostgator issue was for an image heavy blog… and I solved it by optimizing images.

The image optimization feature in CDN was turned off.. so images were delivering by the server itself.. so I changed that setting and the issue was resolved.

Well, I’m not showing thumbnails now… because from my tests it showed that the CTR was more or less the same.

Regarding HostGator,

they suspended the blog 3-4 times for using heavy server resources.

And I think.. the first time it happened the reason was your plugin. Because the first recommendation from hostgator is to disable related posts plugin as according to them they use heavy server resources.

I think they’re right… because in case of WP Related posts… you’re showing related posts directly and for each page the algorithm has to decide which posts to show… and thumbnail generation was another problem.

So I think I solved the issue by disabling the thumbnials.. but if I use Outbrain or something like that it wont affect server performance as they’re hosted on their server.

Yes I was using Outbrain the last one year or so… and then recently disabled it and starting using Zemanta once agian.

In fact I was aware that it was some plugin hack but was not sure about which file to edit and was doubtful about future plugin updates.

And I just want to confirm one more thing,

I remember I discovered your plugin many years back when I was looking for a plugin that suggests related posts using “Tags”. So is the plugin uses the tags itself to find related posts or you changed that method?

Also, does the plugin shows related posts dynamically everytime a page is loaded or it caches the related posts?

If I’m not showing thumbnails on related posts then will it affect server performance in a big way?

I’m asking that since HostGator suspended a blog of mine that was using your plugin.

Actually… I tried the CSS option of your plugin but was a bit confused about how it works… So I started a thread here and someone helped me to customize the sidebar using display:none option…

I will update this thread if I got a solution..

Nice to know that you work for Zemanta. I will take a look at the customizing feeds page..

Also, this problem was there when I added related posts widget to the sidebar with thumbnails… so i had to manually apply the display:none; code to the stylesheet.

But anyways… let me try the above plugins on a dummy blog to test… Alternate ideas are welcome too…

My WP framework is Genesis am using Web fonts for my blog here https://www.minterest.org/ and it was super easy to change it… but for this food blog.. am not sure about how to do that coz… each post’s font is verdana.. that is set manually before publishing… from Live Writer/MS Word…

So am a bit confused about what will happen to original codes whether they will be overwritten or something like that….

Thanks guys… I migration is done and it was super smooth and took < 2 hours…. I used the cPanel backup to transfer data and then used search and replace…. thanks once again… only problem was it replaced the oldsite’s database too…

Yes, I do have FTP access but I guess it’s better to ask the hosting company as they have better internet connection and access.

Will check the database transfers too… I just want to make sure that my old dmoain and data remains intact so that I can switch back whenever i want to…

Regarding the reason why am changing the domain… There’s something wrong with the backlink profile or at the domain level that I havent sorted yet… So I just wanted to migrate to another domain to see if there’s any problem with the content… So that i can switch back some other day… that’s why am changing only the extention of the domain….

So I must ask the web hosting provider to copy all the current WP directories to the newly created hosting account (mine is a reseller hosting)?

Yeah.. I understand.. but I’m looking for an in depth blog post…. to check the steps… to be on the safe side… as it involves changing core WP files.

Edit: Also, my real problem is am not sure about how this works.. Should I create a new web hosting account for the new domain name or we’re parking it or adding as an addon domain?
