In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Badly-designed InterfaceVery sound and profound comment, thanks for that.
Apart from the fact that it is pretty self-explanatory, there are various documentations available (if needed!).
Or pretty helpful sample pages.
If you’d happen to be in a more constructive mood, why not tell us about some alternative with huge advantages you see elsewhere?

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] ImageMagick for thumnail creation@@ Alex
Everything looks pretty good, have noticed something else, when using the built-in “add media”-function when adding a picture from NGG:
Warning: debug_backtrace() has been disabled for security reasons in ... wordpress/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 941
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /../wordpress/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 944
Other plugins, such as Boris’ ngg-imageflow or ngg-smoothplayer don’t seem to recognize the presence of NGG with the new version.

In reply to: Nextgen Gallery Upload ImagesAre you susing the built-in media library or NGG when inserting pictures?
Not a 2.6.2 issue, for sure.

In reply to: Nextgen Gallery Upload ImagesPlease give a URL of the “problem page”.

In reply to: Thumbnails in Nextgen-GalleryNo need to upload thumbnails, NGG should create these once you have uploaded your pictures OK.
Resolution (dpi) and size are the key here with the original pictures (before uploading, of course!).
This CAN work with a few precautions, don’t give up too early!

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] ImageMagick for thumnail creationThanks, Alex, couldn’t get Tortise do what I wanted, but on the Mac, webdav did all I needed. ??
Version 1.0a looks pretty stable already!
Some providers don’tseem to accept imagemagick, so I had to stick with GD library. However, for the first time, zip-upload seems to work well for me.
Even large size pics work fine.
Well, not the right place to post this here, I think, sorry …

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Slimbox CompatabilityThere’s no need to change anything, as I said, it applies the effect automatically. (check options for activated greybox-pligin).
Howeveer, you can, of course try out this, but the abve mentioned metho sould do, nothing else necesary:
Cange the effecc to “custom” and add
class="greybox" rel="%GALLERY_NAME%"
Worth a try.

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Thumbnail Layout distorted@@ bugfix
Page gone?
The defined size of the thumbnails (100×75) is a maximum size, which means that smaller images will necessarily be … smaller.
so you could either use the “fixed dimension” (which probably lead to distortions of a few pics) or use the option “Create square thmbnails”.
Even better and neater (but more work):
Make the pictures (roughly) the same size before uploading …Forum: Everything else WordPress

Any chance to get the trunk as a bundled download to help testing (got some “inactive” blogs where I could give it a try)=
Last weekend, I downloaded all trunk files seperately which took ages (and didn’t work, produced php-syntax errors).

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Thumbnail Layout distortedWhat are your “Thumbnail settings”?
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Thumbnails in Nextgen-GalleryThis seems to be, by far, the most common problem for many users due server settings one can’t change easily (if at all). And Alex is working on a workaround in the next release.
Until then, reduce size and resolution of your images and upload them again and see if this solves your problems.
I assume, your server has a memory limit of 20MByte or so (which you can easily see when you go to “Gallery” where your sever settings are listed).

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Out of memory when uploadingHave you tried reducing size and ressolution to make sure that the server settings are NOT the problem?
BTW, 150dpi is quite large for websites (where 72dpi is what actally is displayed), and so is 1024*869.

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Please help. I’m stuck!!!If you mean php – no, don’t. To me, php is much like Klingon (and dont es around with Klingons …). ??
Sorry, if I was bit unclear – with “code” (or “one-word-code”) I actually meant setting up individual pages with a tag, e.g. for “SimpleViewer”.
But the procedure described above with the existing NGG-options will lead to what you want without any mess in the code.
