I have the same problem exactly. The support article you link to assumes that the ONLY reason for a URL redirect would be for Google Analytics, which is just plain wrong!

Well, duh. Of course it is…
I gave you that link to show you the single-column page width.

In Settings-permalinks there is the option to select Permalink setting to Post name. I want to include this in the child theme, not set it manually in the parent theme.

Same goes for the one-columns setting. I don’t want to manually set this for each iteration. I am looking to modify style.css or the appropriate .php file and include this in the child theme.
