    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Can you please make sure that you are running the latest version of Yoast SEO 20.5 and WordPress? Also, please check that your theme and other plugins are also updated.

If updating does not resolve the issue, please check the instructions below:

Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty-Two.

Please test this on your development or staging site if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

If you feel uncomfortable doing this yourself or if this does not solve your issue, our Yoast SEO Premium plugin comes with one year of (technical) support.

    Hi @audiax , @rmorek

Thanks for getting back with confirmation about the issues. Can you confirm that the problems are now resolved?

Regarding the use of the WP Edit plugin, unfortunately, if it’s no longer mantained this can cause incompatibilities not only with Yoast SEO, but with WordPress itself. Our recommendation is to find an alternative that still being supported.

    Hi @lmack94 ,

Thanks for reaching out to us. We’ve tried to reproduce this issue, but we could not with the instructions provided. Could you please provide us with more information, step-by-step, on how to reproduce this?

Just so that we can understand that issue, is this occurring when you try to access the plugin settings from the WordPress admin dashboard and you click on Yoast SEO? Are none of those pages working?
Or is this happening in your posts and the Yoast Metabox is not working?

Can you please try to delete the Yoast SEO plugin and re-installing it?

While you will not lose any of your settings or data, we recommend creating regular backups of your site and database for your site’s health and safety. Hi there! I’m sorry to hear you had problems while trying to update Yoast SEO. Let’s check what could be the problem.

From your description, it sounds like the update was interrupted and not all the files could be installed properly.

The FTP method of deleting the /wordpress-seo/ directory and reinstalling will resolve this problem. Your settings are stored in your database, so you will not lose any of your work.

We recommend creating regular backups of your site and database for your site’s health and safety. This is especially important before installing, updating, or removing plugins. It provides you with a safety net in case something were to go wrong. Learn more about the benefits of regular backups.

Please let us know if you have any further questions, we’re here to help.

    Hi @ganacontrolrsn,

Unfortunately, there is currently no way to add a specific URL to the sitemap index only. You can use the “wpseo_sitemap_index” filter to add a sitemap URL to the sitemap index and then, with your developer customize add the individual URLs to that external sitemap.

There are multiple samples here that can help you achieve just that.

    Hi @audrey13angel,

Just so that we can try to verify this issue on our end, can you please let us know how you are creating the buttons? We tried adding a button group field, but we don’t have a way to add a link to those buttons. Are you using another field type?

    Hi Christopher,

Thanks for reaching out to us. We understand how frustrating it can be when things don’t work correctly. Let’s look into this.

Using the Yoast SEO plugin, ACF and the ACF Content Analysis for Yoast SEO plugins should be enough for the plugin to analyze the content.

When you say that it doesn’t seem to do anything, do you mean that the Yoast SEO plugin does not seem to be able to analyze the content inside your custom fields?

An easy way to check would be to add a text custom field through ACF and add content to that field. The SEO Analysis in the Yoast SEO plugin should at least be able to count the number of words in the field and display them in the analysis under the Text Length assessment.

Also, can you please let us know if you are using Gutenberg or the Classic editor and what types of fields you are trying to analyze?

Please let us know if you have any further information that can help us continue troubleshooting this issue.

    Hi @audrey13angel,

We understand that you are using ACF to create buttons with links in your content, is that correct?

When you say that the problem is related to the link counter, are you referring to the text link counter feature in the plugin not correctly counting those links in the buttons? Or are the links not being recognized in the content analysis in the plugin?

    Thanks,
    Rafael
