In reply to: [Loco Translate] PHP strings detected by WordPress but not by Loco TranslateThank you a lot, Tim!
Hello,
The Loco Translate developer suggests two possible solutions:
- Enter “*” as the text domain in the Advanced bundle configuration. This will make it behave like GlotPress, extracting all strings regardless of their text domain.
- Access
featured-image-from-url/admin/strings.php
and replace all occurrences ofFIFU_SLUG
with"featured-image-from-url"
.
If the first solution doesn’t work, please try the second one and let me know if it works so I can consider making the change permanent.
If both solutions fail, let me know, and I will contact the developer again.
Hello, @kampot888
I have contacted Loco Translate support and will inform you once I receive a reply.

In reply to: [Featured Image from URL (FIFU)] ability to add oEmbed UrlsFIFU uses the same structure as local featured images from your media library, so you typically don’t need to change anything to have the remote featured image displayed by the theme. Simply go to the “Featured Image” box added by FIFU and enter the image URL.
If you are a new FIFU user, you might want to start by creating a new post with a non-protected image URL like this:
https://ps.w.org/featured-image-from-url/assets/icon-256×256.pngOnce it works and is displayed, replace it with the image URL from canva.com, which is more prone to issues due to the reasons I have explained.

It is a webpage with an image as the main content, so it will not work.
- Y is an intermediate image URL that redirects to Z. As Y is fixed, it is usually what you need to use. However, there are limitations because canva.com has implemented hotlink protection, including human verification. This prevents FIFU from accessing the image programmatically and delivering optimized thumbnails. For now, you would need to disable FIFU > Settings > Image > Optimized Thumbnails. In the next version, I will try to include an exception for images from canva.com. While they still won’t be optimized, you will at least be able to enable Optimized Thumbnails again to optimize images from other sources.
- Z is the final image URL. However, it SHOULD NOT be used indefinitely because it is temporary and will be automatically invalidated after some time. To avoid losing the image, before it expires you can use features like FIFU Cloud or FIFU > Settings > Image > Save in the media library.
There is currently no perfect solution for images from canva.com due to the hotlink protection they have implemented. Images from Facebook and Instagram face similar issues.

In reply to: [Featured Image from URL (FIFU)] ability to add oEmbed UrlsThank you for providing more details.
I believe you are referring to some kind of embed code.
Please provide me with an example of it—similar to what you are using in the post body—and I will analyze it.

In reply to: [Featured Image from URL (FIFU)] ability to add oEmbed UrlsNo, @mukeshwan,
Because oEmbed URLs return JSON instead of image files =)
Could you please explain better?

In reply to: [Featured Image from URL (FIFU)] Duplicate images in some newsInternally, the plugin doesn’t know if your theme is displaying a featured image or not. So when you enable FIFU > Settings > Image > Modify Post Content > Add Missing Media, you are informing the plugin that it should add the image to the post content, which may cause duplication if it’s unduly enabled.

In reply to: [Featured Image from URL (FIFU)] Duplicate images in some newsThank you.
- Disable FIFU > Settings > Image > Modify Post Content > Add Missing Media.
- Purge the cache.
- If that doesn’t work, also disable FIFU > Settings > Image > Optimized Images > Optimize Secondary Images.
- Let me know if that solves the issue; otherwise, send me a post link.
