Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: No text in the pagesI guess I don’t know the correct terminology. I am trying to create a new page. I can add the header but cannot access the body to write anything. So, I went over to a page I’d already created to see if I could edit it — there is no writing showing in the body nor could I access it as if to edit it.

In reply to: No text in the pagesYes, I’ve been doing this successfully in the past. Has something changed to make you ask that?

In reply to: Coraline header and featured photo questionI’m wanting the moth to be the featured image, replacing the header. And I want to do this on a variety of pages.

In reply to: Coraline header and featured photo questionThe picture is larger because this is the header image. I haven’t been successful in getting the feature image changed. I’m still working on it though. What I want is to have a moth pic on the moth pages, a butterfly on the butterfly pages, etc.
Thanks for your comment on the heading font. I do like Share Tech. I made Arial Narrow the 2nd option.
I realize this will take longer than this weekend for me to accomplish!!! Thanks a bunch for your help.

In reply to: Coraline header and featured photo questionBummer. I resized the feature image and added it back but it isn’t showing up. I copied and pasted the code you suggested above into the CSS editor of Jetpack. I got a warning signal that stated “Be careful when using !important declarations”
Here’s the page that it’s not showing up on — https://driftlessprairies.org/?page_id=1961
You’ll notice that I was able to change the header font — at least I hope that shows up for you. Next step will be to change the size. Now, I’m struggling to figure out how to change the title font. I’m working thru the links you gave to me. I’m hopeful I’ll figure this out before the weekend’s over!!!
Thanks so much for your help, for the links, and the suggestions of the CSS edit in Jetpack!

In reply to: Coraline header and featured photo questionThanks. I’ll have some time to work on this tomorrow. I’m a bit nervous about working in CSS as it will be my first time! Is this something that I will pick up as I go along or are they books that explain it clearly and in a way I could teach myself?

In reply to: [Coraline] Coraline modificationsBummer! Thanks for letting me know! Unfortunately, I didn’t think the first post went thru so I made another post. Sorry for the duplication.

In reply to: Coraline header and featured photo questionSorry, I provided the wrong link: https://driftlessprairies.org/?page_id=1961
Yes, I think I do thanks to your help. I just can’t say it often enough — but I am truly and utterly grateful for your being willing to help me and others! THANKS!
YEA — I did it! Once again… many thanks!!! I wasn’t thinking of the view page option. Sometimes I have to have my thinking re-aligned!!
Hello again! Tons of thanks for your help! I’ve finally gotten my info and pics organized to work on this and have another question. I’ve created a hyperlink in the caption as you taught me, but….it links to the admin page that I created and not the page I want others to see. Here’s the link process to see what I’m talking about.
https://www.driftlessprairies.org > bio inventory > insect inventory > ColeophoridaeHow do I change this so it’s only the public page that is viewed?
As always — sure appreciate your time and help!
Yes, my version is 3.6.1. I THINK I understand now. Since I want to hyperlink my photo to a page that I create, I must create that page first so I have that page’s address. I was trying to just put in the name, then link using the “link” button from the page — like I do with other hyperlinks (the only way I knew how!!). Hope you get a chuckle out of my “ignorance.” I’ll try again, but this will take me a few days as I don’t have the individual pages created yet.
THANK YOU very much for your very patient help!
I’m thinking you must be adding this somewhere other than where I tried it. When the photo is displayed, and there are options for filling in blanks on the right-hand side — one is caption — if I put this text before and after my caption text, then that text shows up in the gallery. If this goes in the code somewhere, can you let me know exactly how to do that? I don’t write code so need a bit more instruction.
