Hi,
I could fix it changing the code in the header.php.
As suggested in https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/homepage-meta-description-missing-title-doubled-on-google-search?replies=2
I used:
<title><?php wp_title(”); ?></title>
to replace the previous text:
<title><?php
/*
* Print the <title> tag based on what is being viewed.
*/
global $page, $paged;
wp_title( ‘|’, true, ‘right’ );
// Add the blog name.
bloginfo( ‘name’ );
// Add the blog description for the home/front page.
$site_description = get_bloginfo( ‘description’, ‘display’ );
if ( $site_description && ( is_home() || is_front_page() ) )
echo ” | $site_description”;
// Add a page number if necessary:
if ( $paged >= 2 || $page >= 2 )
echo ‘ | ‘ . sprintf( __( ‘Page %s’, ‘twentyten’ ), max( $paged, $page ) );
?></title>
and it worked.
I don’t actually know why my code in the header was different from
<title><?php wp_title(”); ?></title>.
It’s likely I have messed it up while playing with other plugins, but anyway things are ok now.
