  • Hello lochanraj,

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Spiel theme. I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it!

So Much Wanted to use Block Theme but they were ready i suppose. After using ‘Spiel’ on my website i can say it is the Best Block theme available for Non Tech Newbies right Now- Simple and effective, great typography. My Only concern is ” Whether Auttomattic will keep this theme updated and will be adding new user friendly fetures to it.

I’m thrilled to hear that you’ve found Spiel to be user-friendly and effective, especially for those who may not be as tech-savvy. It’s great that you appreciate its simplicity and typography.

Regarding your concern about future updates and features, I can assure you that Automattic is committed to maintaining and improving its themes, including Spiel. As one of our newer block themes, it’s likely to receive updates and potentially new features in the future. However, I can’t provide specific details about future plans.

That said, one of the advantages of block themes is that many new features can be added to WordPress core itself, benefiting all block themes without requiring theme-specific updates. This means you’ll often get new capabilities just by keeping WordPress itself up to date.

Thank you again for your positive feedback and for using WordPress!

    Hello Heather,

Thank you for reaching out about the issue with embedded YouTube videos not displaying on iPhones. I’ve investigated the problem and have some information for you.

Embedded videos from youtube are not showing up in iPhones in both Chrome and Safari browsers, in the Spiel theme. What can be causing this and what can I do about it? You can see in this post: https://mustbringsnacks.com/2024/04/30/a-day-in-canyonlands-national-park/ About 3/4 down the page, there are three embedded youtube videos that are just showing a blank white spaces in iPhones.

I’ve checked your post on different devices and browsers, and I can confirm that the YouTube videos are displaying correctly on both Android (Chrome) and iOS (Safari) devices. Here are the results of my tests:

    1. Chrome Browser on Google Pixel 7: Videos are visible and functioning, screenshot.
    2. Safari Browser on iPhone 15: Videos are also visible and functioning, screenshot.

Given this information, it seems that the issue might be specific to certain device configurations or temporary glitches. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot:

    1. Clear browser cache: Advise your readers to clear their browser cache and cookies, then reload the page.
    2. Check for updates: Ensure that both the browser and iOS are up to date on the affected devices.
    3. Test in different network conditions: The videos might not load properly on slow connections. Try viewing the page on a strong Wi-Fi connection.

If you or your readers are still experiencing issues after trying these steps, please let me know. It would be helpful if you could provide:

    • The specific iOS version and browser version where the problem occurs
    • A screenshot of the blank space where the videos should appear

Is there anything else you’d like me to clarify or assist with regarding this issue?

    Hello,

Thanks for reaching out and for your kind words about the theme! I understand you’re experiencing an issue with thumbnail alignment on mobile when set to follow the original aspect ratio.

To troubleshoot and help resolve the issue, could you please provide a bit more information?

    • Are there any specific settings you recently changed that may have triggered this behavior?
    • Could you share some screenshots or examples showing how the thumbnails are misaligned on mobile?

Once I have more details, I’ll be able to look into it further and provide suggestions to fix the alignment.

Thanks again, and I look forward to your response!
