Resolved. (Unless it creeps up elsewhere again ?? )
Thanks @richie KS!
@stephencottontail – there is a slider function in the theme options. This is not an add on plugin.Oops!
I thought this was resolved, but there is one more sneaky place this annoyong capitalization of 1st letters of titles appears: in the slider! In the slider (home page), the title of the article is displayed with all first letters capitalizeds.
I tried using the CSS above with “slider” and “metaslider”, but of course that didn’t work.
What would be the code for the slider? (Incidentally, what would be a universal code for the whole theme to NEVER do such sin anymore ?? ?)
Thanks in advance!

In reply to: [Event Organiser] Doesn't work as advertisedI don’t know, but personally, I feel your requirement for a refund is very high. I manage sites for governemental bodies and could in no way provide ftp access. Giving you a list of plugins should be enough. You requiring a zip of all plugins is likely to violate licenses on proprietory plugins.
If you maintain you can’t issue a refund because the plugin doesn’t work on a site and you can’t get in its mots intimate recesses, that’s reason enough to look for other solutions first, and be very wary of buying this from you.
I think it’s fair to say any plugin, even very good, is likely to find a specific combination of theme/plugin/host, etc. that will bug it up, and it’s unfair to put such a burden on the buyer, IMHO.
A list of plugins, the theme installed and server infos (PHP version, etc.) should be enough. You can’t hold a customer hostage to you being able to reproduce any and all possible situations (!).
Also, I would NEVER EVER let anyone I don’t know (buying a plugin from you doesn’t equal knowing you) fiddle with plugins/extensions other than their own. That suggestion itself would be enough for me to make sure you never accessed the backend of my site.
So I tend to agree this makes refunds practically non existent.
It’s too bad, because I was seriously considering your plugin. But I would never buy it blindly without possibility of a refund and your requirements amount to making a refund impossible.
Sorry

In reply to: How to block discovery of username through ?authorHi,
Despite how replies are showing here, I hadn’t seen the one about blocking username listing before I answered, so plese take that in consideration. I will use that “stop user enumeration” plugin” because that’s what I was looking for. Thanks!
As for your question:
“Do you mind if I ask why? Limiting the number of login attempts will lock out an offending ip address – usually for an amount of time you determine from the plugin settings options – and indefinitely, if you configure it that way. “
Because once they have your username, if you limit attempts, it’s easy for “them” to block YOU (your own username) with multiple attempts, and then YOU can’t get it… Even if it’s for a little while, it still amounts to blocking yourself out… especially when, like this Summer, login attempts are relentless ??

In reply to: How to block discovery of username through ?authorThanks for your answer.
I know those solutions, but limiting the number of attemps is a bad thing once they have discovered your username.
Installing the captcha is… to say the least, it’s cumbersome. I was hoping to be able to prevent discovery instead of having to solve it.(And yes, after days of attempting to enter the site with the “admin” username, they used the function referred to in my title.

In reply to: Blank Admin pages after updating WP from 3.3.1Hi,
I don’t remember if I deleted or not before uploading. This time, I will. However, it’s more or less like if only part of the update took place. From the start of this mess, WordPress has been telling me that I’m updated to 3.9.1 and that I… need to update to 3.9.1!
I’ll try the complete manual update and I’ll keep you posted. Thanks to both of you!

In reply to: Blank Admin pages after updating WP from 3.3.1Hi,
It’s just that it had been six days without any answer.
Thanks for the detailed instructions. I’ll try.
The url is reinformationquantique.com. It’s a French site.
I don’t see the point in giving a URL when the site is actually working fine… except I can’t manage it because the admin pages don’t show in the dashbord.
Have a nice day.

In reply to: Blank Admin pages after updating WP from 3.3.1This is going dead without being resolved, and we are not allowed to post anew to signal that we’re still in trouble…. Catch 22!
If anyone reads this, please help! Thanks

It did work. Thank you so much!

Hi Chris,
I can’t because the site is offline.
This is normally a CSS code somewhere. I just can’t find it.Navigation (Menu) items show like this:
La Bonne Bouffe
L’avancee Rose
Le Trefle De Coeuretc.
In French that is not acceptable. In the back end, the words are not all capitalized.
Found it, but it only worked for some stuff, not the navigation. I’ll open another thread for the navigation.

In reply to: [MesoColumn] Tutorials?Thank you. I just don’t understand what you mean by “blog list loop”. Do you mean a page showing blog posts by category and only on those pages will the sidebar appear? In other words, something that will appear in the right sidebar (where?) only on blog-type pages, not on home pages or post “pages”? (I’m sorry, I still don’t understand the logic of that one.)
Also, there is “mesocolumn tabbed” widget and a “Tabbed Sidebar”. for “mesocolumn tabbed” widget, I still don’t understand what goes there and where/how to set it. Can you be more specific?
By the way, there is a problem with the translation of the “mesocolumn banner ads” widget. In the front-end, it shows an English title (Advertisements) in a French install… Also, MesoColumn’s specific widget’s and sidebar’s names are not translated in the back-end: “Mesocolumn-Banner Ad”, “Right Sidebar”, “Tabbed Sidebar”, etc. Just thought you should know.
