In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Description LengthHi @steveraven,
Google no longer uses a fixed length for the meta description, not even on mobile devices. You can check this screenshot (and here) , taken from my phone today, where you can see how great the differences in meta description length can be.
There is no exact number that will always fit. Having too short descriptions decrease your chances of having a longer snippet displayed. If you believe the meta description guidelines should be changed, please submit a feature request on GitHub and our teal will look into it.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Yoast not recognizing internal and outbound linksHi @husbandman,
Did you add these links inside the content area of your posts and pages? If so, Yoast SEO should be able to recognize those links.
Please send us the link to a post/page where you are getting this warning, so that we can inspect it.
We are looking forward to your reply.
Hi @powerhomebiz,
Do you use any plugin to redirect all 404 errors to the homepage? That could explain this behavior.
If you are using Yoast SEO to remove the category prefix (from SEO → Search Appearance → Taxonomies, all the way to the bottom), then your product categories will be like this
https://yourwebsite.com/my-category
instead ofhttps://yourwebsite.com/category/my-category
. If you disable Yoast SEO, this feature will be removed too, meaning links of categories would now show a 404 page (which could be redirected to the homepage, if you are using any plugin that has this feature). Is this the case?We are looking forward to hearing from you.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Plugin problem@lcloer your issue is unrelated to the one encountered by @daduestudio. Please create a new topic and we’ll be happy to assist you. We also recommend checking out this guide on how to noindex URLs, it’s possible that your posts have set in the Advanced tab the robots to “noindex” and “nofollow”.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Hiding Products by Taxonomy Google searchesHi @moshe1111,
It is not possible to do this from the plugin’s settings.
If you are a developer, you could adapt this snippet to meet your needs (100 is the ID of the category in this example). Unfortunately, we cannot assist you with custom coding.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] no feed for boutiqueHi @penseelibre,
We understand that your website does not have RSS feeds anymore. Is this correct? If so, Yoast SEO does not have any features to disable RSS feeds, but there are other speed optimization plugins that do this (you may be using one of them).
We recommend performing a conflict check, to determine if the issue persists when Yoast SEO is the only plugin active on your website.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Redirecting Lose SEO? DomainA > DomainBHi @npoutdoors,
What you’d need is to have 301 redirects from each recipe URL on the old website to its equivalent on the new website. Unfortunately, we cannot assist you with this, as the redirect manager is part of Yoast SEO Premium only. You wouldn’t be able to achieve this with Yoast SEO.
If you are familiar with writing redirects in .htaccess, this article contains a redirect useful for changing domain names. However, it would need to be adjusted to meet your specific needs.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Bulk no index product attributesHi @anjoid,
Unfortunately, there is no way to set this setting in bulk, as each product attribute is a separate custom taxonomy. You might be able to do it in bulk with the
wpseo_robots
filter, although you would have to be a developer to use this solution. We understand you are experiencing an issue after setting the noindex tag to ~300 product attributes. We will try to replicate this issue on our end. How many taxonomies at a time do you try to noindex when clicking “Save changes” (and the changes are reversed after)?
We are looking forward to hearing from you.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] No trailing slash in canonical URLHi @nexxorca,
Thanks for letting us know of what caused this issue, it will be helpful if others experience it. We’re happy to hear you managed to fix this issue.
Hi @manomedia,
Thanks for letting us know. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do in this case. If you believe this should be a feature of Yoast SEO, then you can submit a request on our GitHub repository.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] sitemap couldn’t fetchHi @awaismanzoor,
Unfortunately, the link you have sent us does not work. It leads to a 404 not found page. It might work on your end because you are logged into an account.
Did the status update in Google Search Console for the sitemap?
We are looking forward to your reply.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Yoast options are not active for pagesHi @nalanunal,
Please send us a screenshot where the issue persists when all the other plugins (except for Yoast SEO) are disabled. In addition, please also check for Javascript errors in your console and send us a copy of them.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] WPML default language URL showing in sitemapHi @promjoe,
Did you install and activate the Yoast SEO Multilingual plugin? It is developed by the theme at WPML If not, please do so and let us know if the issue persists.
We are looking forward to your reply.
Hi Goutam,
As mentioned before, this sitemap (https://myvoip.co/sitemap_index.xml) is not generated by Yoast SEO. That being said, we cannot assist you with issues related to sitemaps generated by other plugins. You would have to first remove the current sitemap at /sitemap_index.xml in order to get the one from Yoast SEO.
In regards to having different titles and meta descriptions in the search results, please check out these 2 articles:

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Problem with URL when using primary categoryHi @jagarda,
We understand you’d like the primary category to be shown in the URL too, not just the breadcrumbs. This feature is part of Yoast WooCommerce SEO, which is a premium add-on. It cannot be done using Yoast SEO only.
We hope to have cleared things up for you and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions.
