In reply to: Image Caption CodingI wish I could see which sections you deleted (the bold text doesn’t show up on my end) because I’m having the same problem and no amount of tweaking will fix it. I’ve added the caption code to my theme style.css and all the other suggested fixes and nothing. Driving me crazy. If you find your way out of this caption hell, I’d love to hear how you did it.

In reply to: WordPress 2.5.1 Still can’t upload imagesScribefire, the program, is a good way around the photo upload program. But the fact is, we shouldn’t have to find alternative means to complete such a basic function. I really regret that the miscellaneous/upload folder trick didn’t work for you because it was such a tidy fix for me. Like you, I’m not comfortable with the uber geek acrobatics promoted by some of the WP pros. I’d suggest messing around with that uploads folder to make sure you’ve got the path right. But of course, if you tried and it didn’t work, maybe your issue is different than mine.

In reply to: WordPress 2.5.1 Still can’t upload imagesAh, bummer. Thought that might bail you out. Just one last thought on it: when I reset the upload folder under miscellaneous, I made sure it was absolutely right. Went to a photo on my blog, right clicked it and selected properties. There, I copied and pasted the address under “location” and pasted it into the appropriate box. Hacking off the photo title and whatnot, of course. Next time I tried to upload a photo, it worked perfectly.

In reply to: WordPress 2.5.1 Still can’t upload imagesGene, what worked for me was simplicity itself. Under manage/miscellaneous, I changed the “store uploads in this folder” to the correct path. In my case, that was …/wordpress/wp-content/uploads. After trying all of the complex solutions offered up throughout the forums, this worked for me immediately and without further agitation. Good luck!

In reply to: Dusk 1.2What? You can make the sucker obey just like that? I appreciate it. I’ll drop you a line.

In reply to: Dusk 1.2Yeah, I’ve had no luck with Google. I thought someone here might have a copy of it. Isn’t it crazy how, the more elusive something becomes, the more you want it?

In reply to: Paralyzed widgetsWooooow… You can’t just copy Scriptacular into the includes/js folder. You have to upload a fresh copy. After two hours, I found that suggestion and it worked sweetly.

In reply to: wordpress.com TO wordpess.orgHandysolo, that totally worked. By gawd, you’re a genius. Hopefully others will see this particular forum and see how easy that solution is. Friggin awesome. I really appreciate it.

In reply to: wordpress.com TO wordpess.orgMan, I’m sooooo close here. I put the feed in the browser and saved it as an xhtml file. Imported that and it was succesful, with the “have fun” message and all that. However, a pop over to my site showed no old posts. Is it because I didn’t save the view source, as you suggested in your last comment?

In reply to: wordpress.com TO wordpess.orgWell, this is something I haven’t tried. Can I just paste my feed address into the browser? And when I save the file, what extension should it have?
By gawd, Handy. I do believe you’ll be the one to get this horrid mess worked out for me.Forum: Fixing WordPress

Is that something different than having the export tool spit out an .xml file?
