This request is to identify how to validate a “completed” Duplicator package. Unrelated to any particular setup.

Is there a verification & validation step available?

    Thanks for the response.

    Two questions

    1. Will Duplicator fix the backup zip so that failed zip files result in an error, instead of an “all good” response?

Certainly most of us expect an “all good” response to mean that the zip file was created successfully.

    2. Do daf archives fail with an “all good” response in duplicator, just like zip files? Or are daf files actually reliable?

    NOTE::::

Getting this during the Install part. NOT during the Activation part, just the Install part.

[] PHP Warning: Error while sending QUERY packet. PID=xxx in ./wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 2030

There are no other installations that fail, only Updraft Plus.

    Thread Starter arasa

    (@marksat)

I did as you recommended, using the FTP Upload portion in WordPress. Same issue.

Installation seems to work fine, but then when the plugin is activated it disappears. The only way to get rid of it is to go into Filemanager and delete the two folders mentioned earlier.

    (@marksat)

    Just checked /wp-content/debug.log

    Nothing shows up.

    So the entire sequence is:

    1. Operating web site with Updraft already installed

    2. Delete Updraft folders in /wp-content nor in /wp-content/plugins

    3. Go to Plugins page. The following notification shows up: “The plugin updraftplus/updraftplus.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.”
    >> Note, there is NOT a debug entry created for this error.

    4. In Plugins page, Add New

    5. Search for Updraft

    6. Install the Plugin with the following:
    UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin
    Install Now

    7. Wait for installation. This is complete when Activate is presented.
    UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin
    Activate

    8. Check wp-content/ directory…
    >> No updraft folder in there

    9. Check wp-content/plugins directory…
    >> Folder updraftplus found

    10. Check Plugins directory, everything looks fine, Plugin is there with the Activate button available…
    UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore
    Activate | Delete

    11. Click on Activate
    >> Plugin disappears from Plugins page!!!!

    12. Check for files
    >> wp-content/updraft found!
    >> wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/ found!

But… plugin is not listed in the plugin menu!

    13. Try to Add New again?
    UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin
    Active
    More Details

    >> Shows the plugin is Active! But there is no menu item, and it doesn’t show up in the Plugins page.

    Hi Cory,

Actually it is more ominous than simply wanting to compare files. WinMerge or diff isn’t going to help, since there is nothing to diff it against.

Why would a build “pass” if it really fails?

The log file is gigantic. What exactly should any of your users be searching for, to figure out if a build actually failed when it reports that it passed?

    Thread Starter arasa

    (@marksat)

    There is no error.

It installs fine. It winds up creating the appropriate folders in Plugin. And then when I activate, it just disappears. The only two ways that I’ve found to delete it is either by MainWP, or going directly into Plugins directory and deleting it from there.

    No errors.

As described, updraft is failing when installed from WordPress.

Any recommendations? A simple google search reveals this appears to be a somewhat common failure with updraft.

Mainwp is there saving Grace in being able to delete the defective updraft plugin.

    Where are the logs?

Thank you Kaspars. Of note, you’ll use this same technique of “disabling” when any problems exist on a site that you think might be related to a Plugin.

thank you acub, that plugin seems to work great!

I agree with ashtonej, the plugin wasn’t mentioned on
