I have temporarily loaded a copy of the mirror at the same Web host (BlueHost) here:

    https://royalpersianrugs.com.au/

Maybe this will help with knowing what settings I should have used in the plugin before importing?

royalpersianrugs.com.au/wp-admin is actually pointing to the new install/instance of WP. Nothing from the old site appears in wp-admin.

Was planning to follow this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZRgvAtwpxw to either retain the old theme or start with a fresh theme. I actually do like the old theme but it is my understanding that using the old theme won’t allow me to to adjust menus etc from the WP dashboard. Correct me if I am wrong?

Original theme is X (Integrity Dark) by ThemeCo.

I contacted the original web developer. The response I got was “You need to create and install and configure WP instance. Then restore the backup”.

That to me sounds like confirmation that the original database is not available.

Sounds like I have pretty much followed his suggestion anyway. I copied the old website files into the new WP instance (via cPanel File Manager). Is that what he means by “restoring the backup”?

I am just not understanding what exactly is meant by restoring the backup. For example, to get the pages appearing in the dashboard again. Do I have to manually create each page again via WP dashboard. Then once the pages have been created, maybe then replace with the pages stored in the backup?

I realise that plugins and themes are another issue but one step at a time.

In absence of the original web developer providing the database, I suppose I have the site mostly up and running. I sorted out the SSL issues.

There is one pretty major issue however that will be hard to fix without WP CMS. In mobile view, the menu disappears very quickly which makes it unusable.

Obviously will be hard to fix without CMS but maybe possible?

The contact form works fine. I was able to manually edit the mail.php file with the correct email address and it works fine. Currently arriving at local mail server (BlueHost horde mail).

It is a cPanel “Full Backup” then. However, the mysql folder has nothing in it other than a roundcube.sql file and a openfileslimit file.

What is the name format of the database file so I can search for it? *.sql I assume? However, it looks like it isn’t contained in this backup. Only file I have found is mysql.sql in the root of the full backup folder but it is only 1KB. Also, there is no wp-config.php file.

    Thanks

So basically the previous web developer did not actually have an archive? He stated it was a WordPress web archive. Not sure why he would have used HTTrack when he was the supposed creator of the site. Website was down for months so maybe he did a Google crawl ? but I don’t think that was the case (especially since crawl only works for up to 90 days).

The web archive appears to be a full backup of the cPanel a/c. It has folders such as Mail and public_ftp etc. The Mail folder even has mail in it.

Just doesn’t make sense at all. The only sql file I see that is of a significant size is a horde.sqlite file around 1.5MB.

Makes sense the pages don’t show in Dashboard since the database is missing. However, the dashboard has picked up on a few things. For example, it has listed some of the themes and plugins that I manually copied over. Plus, as I said, the contact form works which was somewhat surprising.

    Yes I see one.

Under theme settings, I see Booking Calendar.

Not much info in there. Just a few boxes:

    – Booking Email address
    – Available Date Background Color
    – Available Date Text Color
    – Booked Date Background Color
    – Booked Date Text Color
    – Additional Status (Confirmed or Paid)

Theme says it was made by a group called Sense. Link takes me to this site https://www.sensestudio.co/

My customer has a property in Bali and had local do up the site. But he has since disappeared. This Sense site looks to be Chinese Indonesian or something. It obviously has nothing to do with web development but its probably linked in some way.

    – Admin Columns
    – Advance noCaptcha & invsible Captcha
    – Coming Soon Page & Maintenance Mode by SedProd
    – Contact Form 7
    – Huge IT Google Map
    – MailChimp for WordPress
    – Sense Gallery
    – Unyson

These are plugins for whole site. Not sure which one is relevant to the Calendar (if it all) since I didn’t design the site.

    bump!!!!

Furthermore, on the mirrored site, the contact us form and guestbook is no longer working. Is there any hope in get this working again without access to the WP database.
