    Thanks. However, I think I’ve found PART of the problem — it seems in my Plugins folder, there was an additional .htaccess file that read something (well, exactly) like this:

    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteRule $ /index.php/404
    </IfModule>

    So, I deleted it, but WordPress just created a new one exactly the same, so I changed permissions on the Plugins, deleted the file, and now things are working fine.

    The question still remains, what the heck is creating the rogue .htaccess in the plugins folder? I thought it could be WP-DBManager, but that’s been deactivated for a while.

    Here you go:

    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>

    # BEGIN WPSuperCache

    Another odd thing is that the css files of both plugins show the html page source when I use Firefox’s css editor, despite the fact that I’ve checked and both css files are where they should be. Which is odd, too.

    I deactivated all my plugins, and then reactivated the one plugin, and the problem persisted. In fact, it’s happening with TWO plugins that were working just fine before, Social Media Widget and Sociable for WordPress 3.0 (which now produces the ugly list below each post rather than the eye-pleasing social media buttons were all know and love). I deleted and reinstalled said plugins, but no dice.

    Needless to say, it’s a bit perplexing.

    Just looked, and the plugins and files are still there, resting comfortably. But yeah, I’m getting the 404, too. Which is odd.

    Oh, and the link to my site:

    https://www.rjkoehler.com

    I’m getting a very similar error:

    WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘ORDER BY cat_name ASC’ at line 1]
    SELECT cat_id, cat_name FROM ORDER BY cat_name ASC

    Being, well, not technically inclined, it’s been a major headache. Any help on this would be appreciated.

    That worked. Thanks.

    Thanks…. Fortunately, I managed to debork it last night. Just took out the width for the sidebar and things mysteriously began to appear as they should.

    I tried what you suggested, but that doesn’t seem to be the problem. My menu is still borked on IE. I’m not much of a code writer, so I guess my problem shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
