I am using the default value. But switching to other values doesn’t change the phenomenon. The set width appears initially, and is then quickly lost.

Some more info.

The issue seems cache-related:

a) It doesn’t show up when I’m logged in as the admin and the admin gets uncached pages.
b) But the error DOES occur when the admin gets cached pages.
c) And yet: switching off the cache entirely doesn’t solve the problem.

The cache is managed by WP Optimize. But I believe there is some simple caching mechanism in WP core as well, right?

It doesn’t show up on the profiler, because it’s just a link to the thumbnail which is created at mshots (wordpress.com). But it influences page loading time and slightly lowers your Page Speed result, as far as I can tell. It should be an option one can switch off. That would make the plugin excellent.
