In reply to: [Tiny Forge] Menu and Text Disappeared and Unable to key in textRevising my initial assumption that Safari for Windows does not respond to “responsive” themes. I have since tested a few responsive themes and they are displaying correctly. The mystery continues…!

In reply to: [Tiny Forge] Menu and Text Disappeared and Unable to key in textOh thanks! Have you tried Tomas’ site as well (https://mtomas.com/).
If the situation is the same, then this is a good confirmation. Think we need to look at another “resposive” site. My suspicion is browsers need to do something to accommodate this new wave of “responsive” webs.
Re Safari on Mac and iPhone. They are OK – already tested by Tomas and a friend of mine. It’s just the version for Windows that Apple does not want to update. Generally there is no problem at all, just that I happen to be using Tiny Forge, which IMO is the best looking of the basic WP themes

In reply to: [Tiny Forge] Menu and Text Disappeared and Unable to key in textIt’s OK not to support Safari for Windows, even though it is a subjective decision and, dare I say, may even be a bad decision.
I am tending toward Chrome at this time. Hwvr, I may have to embed a line in an image file on the website with something like “best viewed with non-Safari brower”. ??

In reply to: [Tiny Forge] Menu and Text Disappeared and Unable to key in textIt is up to you to decide whether it’s ok to write off the Safari-for Windows population. Hwvr, dinosaurs or not, Safari for Windows is still quite popular and, honestly, I never had a problem with it until now with Tiny Forge. Having said that, I am still not sure whether the problem is limited to my desktop and laptop. I will need to ask other Safari-for-Windows people to test it. If it proves to be a universal problem, I may have to, unfortunately – much as I like Tiny Forge – switch to another more accommodating theme.

In reply to: [Tiny Forge] Menu and Text Disappeared and Unable to key in textIt is OK if I don’t use it. That’s not a big deal. But the fact is it is still considered a major browser.

In reply to: [Tiny Forge] Menu and Text Disappeared and Unable to key in textHahaha!
I like Safari (even for Windows) because it has always been reliable – with a pure and simple interface. It is not inundated with irrelevant links and annoying ads, etc. This is the first time I see a problem.

In reply to: [Tiny Forge] Menu and Text Disappeared and Unable to key in textTomas, it does not work with Twenty Twelve either – when browsed with Safari for Windows. I tested both on my desktop and laptop.
One observation: Both Tiny Forge and Twenty Twelve are responsive themes. TwentyTen and Whispy (which are not responsive themes) display the site correctly on Safari for Windows on my Windows 7 desktop and laptop.
Having said that, even more puzzling is that Tiny Forge was working fine on Safari for Windows until yesterday.

In reply to: [Tiny Forge] Menu and Text Disappeared and Unable to key in textTomas,
I accessed your website to send you an email. I look forward to the beta version. I use WP 3.8.1.
New finding: Your website behaves exactly like the problem I have with the Tiny Forge theme: No menu and no text when browsed with Safaris (my default browser). That gave me a fit, so I immediately switched to FireFox, and it was fine. Now it appears to boil down to a browser compatibility issue (at least on my Windows 7 platform)? I confess that I did not re-browse with FireFox or IE after I deleted and reinstalled Tiny Forge. However, I did check it out with other browsers before deleting Tiny Forge from the server.
I had test-switched to both TwentyTen and Whispy. Both looked well on Safaris. Now I have switched the site back to Tiny Forge again (https://www.lettyhussonart.com). Note: The Home Page is incomplete, but most other pages have content. Again: I don’t see the menu nor any text when browsed with Safaris. But when browsed with FireFox and Chrome, it is as it should be
Getting more intriguing…

In reply to: [Tiny Forge] Menu and Text Disappeared and Unable to key in textOK, I just tried again: Deactivated every plugin one by one and rechecked step by step. No change in result. Then, for one more time, I deleted Tiny Forge from the server and reinstalled and reactivated. Still it did not work.
More puzzling is it does not work even after NextGen was deactivated.
Don’t think the site was hacked, as the other themes work with the setup.
So I am thinking I will stay with Whispy for a while until your next release.
Thanks,

In reply to: [Tiny Forge] Menu and Text Disappeared and Unable to key in textTom,
Yes, I deleted the theme from the server, reloaded and reactivated, and the results were the same. There is no error log anywhere.
Oh I didn’t tell you that the gallery is from the NextGen plugin. Wonder if there is some incompatibility issue under certain condition? There can be so many variables. One thing I did not do was to deactivate plugins one by one and recheck. Perhaps I will do that later when I am not pressed for time.
Thanks,

I still prefer the AEC look though, but can’t use it for now. ??
