I switched to Linux hosting and used the GoDaddy auto-install, which was pretty painless. My WP is up and running on my website. (yay!)

Now I’m trying to figure out which theme I want to use and whether to pay for one, which I’m now leaning toward. The free one I liked confused me. Thesis may be my answer.

Thanks again for your help! ??

Ah, you both are golden. Thanks for the quick responses. I’ll run through the instruction page and attempt it on my own. If it does’t work, I’ll call GoDaddy. I truly appreciate your help and hopefully soon will have the “install.php” working. I’m excited to switch my site to a blogging platform since working with it at my day job.

And I have a pretty nifty theme to install, too. Crossing my fingers this will all work.

Ack! Well, samboll, I was unaware of the Windows-based issues with GoDaddy. I’m not clear how switching the web server to Linux (when I’m on a Windows OS) relates. You say I don’t have to install anything. So it’s a choice within GoDaddy? Or are you saying to get a new hosting service?

Because if it’s the latter, I’m done with WordPress before I’m even out of the gate. I had high hopes of using it with my GoDaddy account but now you’re telling me that I’ll have “constant problems.” Yikes.

Michael, I appreciate the response. However, I really don’t want to install a new operating system in order to make WordPress’ installation work.
