In reply to: Fatal Error issueAt this stage I would try another reinstall.
I know you’ve already re-uploaded, but this guy reinstalled again after reinstalling once everything except the wp-content folder and it seemed to work for him – https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/fatal-error-need-help-4?replies=5
Don’t mind me asking, but what version of WordPress are you using?

In reply to: Now what is the problemIn that case yes your hosting it yourself (or you have a hosting provider). Therefore, check that MySQL server is running and that all your credentials are present and correct in your wp-config.php file.

In reply to: Which Membership plugin is right for me?If you don’t mind paying, I use one called “WP-Emember” from tipsandtricks-hq.com. You can set different permissions for different levels of membership, free or paid for, self registration etc. Support is pretty good too.

In reply to: Now what is the problemCould check a few things first:
Have you checked your wp-config.php file to make sure you have the right database connection details are in there i.e. the right database name, username and password?
Is MySQL Server running?
If it’s been working before, it sounds like that the MySQL server has stopped running. Whoever is hosting your site I’d talk to them too, or if you can administer it yourself, log in and check it out.
As far as I know, yes…I can only definately say that it has been since 2.8 as that is when I first used WordPress. Perhaps someone who has installed earlier versions can clarify this?

In reply to: my wp-admin has disappearedIs your wp-admin directory still there (assuming you are hosting WordPress yourself?). If so, have you tried reuploading the wp-admin directory?
Also, out of interest, if you are hosting WordPress yourself, was this after changing the website address under Settings -> General?

In reply to: Where is the single.php file?It should be part of your theme. Go to the WordPress directory, and go to wp-content/themes/your theme and it should be there (single.php).
However, if you have permissions, you might be able to edit it in your admin page. Go to Appearance -> Editor. If you don’t have permissions, you’ll need to do navigate to it as suggested first.
Try installing an earlier version of WordPress. Not recommended, but it gives you something to work with. The release archive is here https://www.ads-software.com/download/release-archive/

In reply to: Want to host my WP.com blog. Can I take my theme?Should be able to copy the theme files from your current host (under wp-content/themes/theme name, and then copy them over to your new site when its up and running into wp-content/themes . Once you’ve done that, you should be able to activate the theme in admin.

In reply to: Post text appearing after sidebarI’d say its the addthis plugin, but then again it is the length of the sidebar so I’d say its that in combination with the addthis plugin. Try putting the sidebar in the maincontent div to see what happens.

In reply to: index.php home page redirecting to wp-adminOne thing I didn’t check was my plugins, and yep it was a plugin I installed before logging off – “Members” appears to redirect you tot he login page, even when you tell it users don’t have to logon to see the site. Wierd.
Anyway, ignore me!
