Would you mind expanding on the saving bigger parts of a site or a post as a template? From the sound of it, you should be able to accomplish that with the Reusable Blocks feature or the Template Part block.

You can disable the pre-publish checks by going to Preferences: https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/548849/198402875-3b511e1c-267b-43cf-9ef2-d3438ef5b41e.png

Then when publishing you should get a notice in the bottom left with the link to it.

If the full-screen experience is not your ideal experience you can also disable it. Hope that helps.

There’s a breadcrumb now on the block toolbar that should let you select the parent column more easily to remove.

Alternatively, the new “list view” accessed from the header can be the fastest way to select? We’ll be adding the ability to remove directly from this view.

The data-carousel-extra must be coming from some plugin?

Thanks for the clarification and the great example! Agreed things are challenging for normal people, making them less so is the entire focus while also ensuring a healthy ecosystem.

Have you tried using patterns to communicate things like that case (i.e. a design with an image within a column, etc)? Curious if that can alleviate some of the challenges of composing things together.

Better starting points and guidance can be of huge help.

Ultimately, the person from your example is one of the target goals of the project. As more people come online without any web development background tools that are easy to use are paramount. The editor should not feel overwhelming but empowering. We need to continue developing tools that help on ramp people.

Thanks for the feedback! I’m glad WordPress is working in its current state for you and hope it continues to do so for a long time. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work for many other people that don’t know how to code.

This kind of gatekeeping is opposite to the spirit of WordPress, which is to democratize access to publishing on the web.

There are mechanisms to stay away from the block editor if you don’t want to interact with it. You can also restrict via your theme the kind of features and functionalities that are exposed to users.

I’m really sorry to hear that. Activating or deactivating the plugin should be harmless unless you are making heavy use of the experimental features. It’s hard to tell what could have been the culprit but if you have any further info to share it’d be useful. Thanks.
