Thanks. I tried deactivating all the plugins and that failed to remove the gibberish. The site’s really slow to respond as well, especially the dashboard. Maybe that’s a clue?

Askimet isn’t being used at present. Is Askimet the only way to make the “mark as spam” feature useful?

The 4th option worked! (- re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.)

ahhh. I see. I was developing using Chrome. Chrome doesn’t offer any subscription button/link (Mac or PC). It simply says:

“This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.” and prints the feed in code form.

Now I guess I’ll have to research a way to deal with Chrome not handling rss feeds. Yes, suers may know about Chrome and rss, but those who don’t will be guessing like I was.
