When you activate Classic editor it disables Gutenberg by default. You can either use one from both. Go to setting > Writing and there is option to change editor

What are you trying to do exactly? Classic editor is working fine for me it might be gutenberg causing the problem. WordPress team has taken wrong decision by including Gutenberg in core that broke many sites

Classic editor will die eventually because more and more devs have to keep plugins and themes compatible with gutenberg as now it’s in core.

WordPress end users hate Gutenberg, Developers don’t even like it. Everyone is saying from start that this is bad move by WP but why they still included it in core? I think even when 1% of people will use it WordPress will still keep Guternberg in core. WordPress team people are acting like Corporate.

@clorith Problem is most of the times WPBakery comes as bundled plugin in a theme and there are very low chances of getting updated version of WPBakery for everyone using it. I faced @w3arts on several sites that update to WP5 broke my website and I have to install classic editor to fix it.

Gutenberg added one extra step in development process. Installing disable Gutenberg by installing classic editor.
