I uploaded img thru WP interface, get this error after clicking on “upload”:

Unable to create directory /home/francesb/public_html/home/wp-content/uploads/2007/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server? and why doesn’t it ask you WHERE you want to put image???

I’m a web developer, I hand-code everything, I hate the way you have to edit blogs…

there should be a blog-program out there for us developers….;)

my gosh, why is this so confusing?

in css for my theme I find:

#footer {background: #eee url(‘images/kubrickfooter.jpg’) no-repeat top; }

but I don’t see this image in my images folder…
heck, I don’t even see a FOOTER in my blog..

I fixed this by copying code from searchform.php in default template to searchform.php in new template…

but now get lots of errors in sidebar… what is going on here??????????

ok, sorry sorry.. disregard.. SOLVED…

in new domain installed WP in dir ‘home’, and will simply put a redirect from domain.com/index.htm to domain.com/home/..

meaning: is it ok for me to just go in there (ftp) and change dir ‘php’ name to ‘blog’?? that would be awesome..

I have another question, also related to this..
I have now registered a new domain, <myname>blog.com/ I just installed WP in <myname>blog.com/wordpress, but, if I put blog here instead of at other domain mentioned above, I would want address of blog to be just <myname>blog.com/ that’s it.. (i.e., not as simple as just renaming directory..) how do I do THAT???? I tried installed WP at the root but it wouldn’t let me…

ok, I will.. thank you very much.. even though I have been web developer for about seven years now, I’m fairly new to blog-editing.. why doesn’t basic HTML code work? (like when I want to do a link, I can’t just type <a> etc.. I have to click somewhere, get to a dialog, type the url somewhere in another window, etc, it takes so much longer to do anything.. I still haven’t figured out how to edit files ‘manually’, i.e., edit the code itself.. there’s one spot where I can get to files, but when I click on main index template it says can’t edit file because it is locked..) how do you set permissions? I edit blogs at work using typepad, I edit all files manually and never have to set permissions… I’m excited at the idea of a blog, but editing it still takes me too long….:) thank you very much..
