Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Instagram videos don’t play in-pageAndrew:
I had considered that might be the cause. If other websites are experiencing the same behavior then that would be the best explanation.
I’m also going to try disabling some plugins to see if that changes the behavior on my site.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Child category appears unchecked after saveThank you. It appears that checking for is_home(), is_singular(), is_archive(), or is_search() does the same thing as what !is_admin() was doing, and now the child categories remain checked during the save process.
I should add that when I subscribed to my blog with my test address, I received a message with the confirmation link. When I clicked the link, I received a confirmation message saying the address was subscribed.
I already did, and Kevin from your team informed me the error was corrected.
I reconnected my Jetpack and indeed the errors have been resolved, including Publicize and emails notifications. Thanks to you and Kevin!

In reply to: [reGenerate Thumbnails Advanced] Syntax error after updateUpdate: On a hunch that the previous update may have been incomplete, I tried reinstalling the plugin from the WordPress repository. The same error occurred and once again I had to delete the files via FTP to get the site working again.
Update: I’m not seeing the message any more, and Publicize sent all of my posts to Facebook today as normal. Marking as closed.
Ken:
Thank you for pointing these out. I knew that GoDaddy had a staging function as part of its managed WP plans, so I thought you were referring to that. I didn’t know about the Jetpack functions, so thanks again.
Mike
I think that staging mode is a feature of your account with GoDaddy and not a component of Jetpack, so you may not get much help here. I suggest you double-check this with GoDaddy.
My apologies, that was my mistake. A querystring parameter is NOT a standard feature of Related Posts in Jetpack.
The problem I described earlier seems to have stopped. I saw an unwanted link when I used the Preview function on the post, but now that the post is published Related Posts is suggesting a different set of items, none of which are on my exclude list.
Yes, I did use the syntax you provided, replacing the post ID numbers with my choices.

Someone on the Jetpack team showed me this tip. There is a way to turn off modules individually, but it’s more obscure that it was in previous Jetpack versions.
- From the bottom of the Jetpack Dashboard or Settings page, select “Debug.”
- Click the link titled “Access the full list of Jetpack modules available on your site.” at the bottom of the Debug page.
You will then see a list of Jetpack modules, which you can activate and deactivate one at a time or in groups.
OK, something seems to have changed over the past hour, because I was able to connect. I made no changes to the site that would have contributed to this.
Additional: The url to my website is https://cutetropolis.com/
I also tried disabling all other plugins before attempting the connection. It didn’t make a difference — same error.
Looks like my question is a duplicate of this one, so I’m going to mark my question closed.

In reply to: [Bento] Website look different mobile vs desktopI can’t provide an official answer on behalf of the theme’s designer, but what you are seeing on your mobile device is intentional, the result of a technique called “responsive design.”
Years ago, when people first began viewing websites on mobile, the experience was unpleasant, because the layout was designed for larger desktop screens and would shrink to such a small size on mobile that nobody could read it.
Responsive design fixes this. Instead of shrinking to fit the screen, the layout converts into a single column. On your site, this makes it easier to read the words and to see the three videos.
