  • Hey Charlie,

Thanks for getting back in touch. We’re glad the field requirements issue is fixed. For the emails being sent to people, those would be managed within MailChimp on the form builder page. If you go to Lists > Signup forms > General forms, you can then use the drop down menu to change contents for the Signup Confirmation Email as well as the Final Welcome Email to change what contents get sent with the confirmation link versus after confirmation. For further support with that our general support would be the best place for you to get in touch with by clicking on your display name when logged in to MailChimp, then clicking Support. You can search the knowledge base for assistance there, and after searching you’ll receive an option to contact support if you’d like.

    Hey behemothkind,

Feel free to let us know if you end up continuing to see that issue, but that whitelisting *should* do the trick!

    Hey JrBro,

Thanks for getting in touch! It looks like that solution mc_dominic mentioned works specifically when JavaScript is disabled. So in order to get it working you can go to the MailChimp Setup page of your WordPress settings, then go to the List Options section of the page and uncheck the box for “Use Javascript Support?”, then save. That should get the code working if it’s both above and below the signup form in the plugin’s code.

    Hey fox-didl,

The widget actually includes German translation text for when your WordPress site is set up to use German according to this site: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Installing_WordPress_in_Your_Language

The only remaining text beyond system text and error messages which would need further elaboration would be the need to update your field titles themselves within MailChimp. If you head in MailChimp to Lists > your list > List fields and *|MERGE|* tags, you can change the names of the fields to be in German instead of English, then refresh your plugin’s settings within WordPress to carry over the updated titles.

If we can help with anything else, please let us know.

    Hey Ling-en!

Thanks for getting in touch! The language of the messages populated by the plugin generally correspond to the language set within WordPress for the site itself. If the goal is to change the message itself rather than to change the language being used, we actually provide instructions on the plugin’s FAQ page here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/mailchimp/faq/

Using a PO language file editor as mentioned there to edit the appropriate language’s file within your plugin download should do the trick for you, though you’ll want to save your changed version for later upgrades if you’re editing an existing language in place. That way you can re-copy the same edited version into place after a plugin upgrade.

If we can help with anything else, please let us know.

    Hey saury316,

I followed up with your info in the other thread along with semblance_er. We can continue this conversation there since you both appear to be dealing with the same issue. ??

    -Gabe

    Hey semblance_er and saury316,

In this case checking the webhost’s whitelist (or adding the previously mentioned domain and IP address explicitly) would be recommended.

Can you both try explicitly whitelisting traffic to and from https://sopresto.socialize-this.com and 50.97.194.22 on your host in order to see if that does the trick?

If that fails, we also have a few other suggestions in this previous thread that might be worth checking out:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/error-couldnt-connect-to-host?replies=23

If you have any further information or questions, please feel free to follow up. We’ll be glad to help track down the issue however we can.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

    Hey Sam,
Thanks for getting in touch with us for help. It sounds like you might be using some additional code for a pop-up form from us. MailChimp only has one officially supported method of producing a pop up form on a site: By using our offered embedded form code while enabling the “evil popup mode” checkbox before copying the code over.

That’s generally retrieved by going within MailChimp to Lists > your list’s title > Signup forms > Embedded forms, then checking the evil popup mode box and then copying the code over into your site. Finding that code in your site and removing it would be the way to stop this popup from appearing again.

If the popup appears to be different from the popup added via our embedded code, it may be produced by a third party plugin of some kind rather than an official MailChimp-provided form. If you have any additional questions or would like more assistance hunting down the cause, please let us know. If you provide a link to your site, we can try taking a look for you!

    Hey LZ!

Thanks for getting in touch. Old versions of the plugin used an API key in order to connect to MailChimp, while newer versions have switched the initial method of connectivity to use regular sign-in instead. When you try connecting and don’t see new options appear, is anything at all changing? Or do you continue to see solely the option to Connect without a change?

If so, it may be important for you to investigate your server’s settings to see if this domain and IP address are whitelisted:
    https://sopresto.socialize-this.com
    50.97.194.22

Those are connected to in order to get that sign-in process to complete. If you continue to have issues, can you explain to us in a bit more detail exactly what you’re seeing?

    Thanks!
    Gabe

    Hey chtrede,

Thanks for getting in touch. That issue is actually unrelated to the WordPress plugin for which we run support here. The “Edit Code” option mentioned is on the template editing page after you’ve chosen to edit a particular template and is only available for imported templates. For further support related to MailChimp itself, I recommend checking out https://mailchimp.com/contact/ and choosing “Technical Support”. They’ll be glad to help you out!

    Hey Cherrydee,

Thanks for getting in touch! For that automatic redirect along with inline validation, it would be necessary to use the embedded form from MailChimp with Javascript enabled. This may require a bit of troubleshooting Javascript conflicts between the plugin and the page itself when first implementing, but the embedded form does allow for inline validation via Javascript with a fallback to the separately hosted form. Entering the redirect link in MailChimp won’t have an effect on the plugin, so the embedded form would be the way to go.

If you have other questions, please let us know. We’ll be glad to assist.

    JessvR,

This issue doesn’t seem to be related to the WordPress installation generally, but communication between servers. One thing to check is to see if you can determine from your host if the fsockopen php function is enabled. That’s used for communication from the plugin to MailChimp’s servers, so if it’s disabled that would explain the hold up.

    10sexyapples,

Checking for that same function I mentioned above (fsockopen) being enabled in PHP on your server would be worth doing. Separately, you mentioned you’d be sending us that error, but we don’t seem to have received it yet. Can you try re-sending that to us, making sure to double check that the email address was entered correctly? That address is wordpress[at]mailchimp[dot]com.

    Thanks!

    -Gabe

    Hey Pwycliffe!

You can certainly get required fields set up within the plugin’s forms as well. If you’ve already set up the Address field to be required within the MailChimp side, then you’d want to click the “Update List” button next to the list’s name in the MailChimp Setup page in WordPress. After that, you should be able to scroll down and fine the “Merge Variables Included” section of the plugin’s configuration which allows for toggling which fields are enabled and which aren’t. Once the list has been updated in the plugin after you’ve set up a required field in the MailChimp list on the MailChimp side, you should see your required field there.

Please let us know if you see any continuing issues!

    Hey!

That file should be in your server under the wp-content directory, then your theme, in your server. The particular CSS file in this case appears to be /wp-content/themes/portfolium/style.css. If you can find that file to edit, you should be good to go!

    -Gabe

    Hey 10sexyapples,

Thanks for getting in touch. On your own server, have you yet been able to try whitelisting this site and IP address yet? You would want to make sure both outgoing and incoming connections are allowed:
    https://sopresto.socialize-this.com
    50.97.194.22

If so, has that seemed to change anything for you?

    JessvR,

That particular error generally indicates traffic is still somehow failing in the authorization step for the plugin. One solution may be to use our embedded form code instead of the plugin, as described here: (How can I add my signup form to my website?: https://eepurl.com/gOGN)

If you’d like to continue trying to troubleshoot the plugin, can you tell us the name of your host, what version number of the plugin you’re running, and what version of WordPress is being run on your server?

    Thanks,
    -Gabe
