Thanks for replying Jason. I posted this a month ago, as well as sent an email to the developer. I didn’t hear back from anyone and I needed to address my client’s issue, so I abandoned the plugin and deployed another solution.

    Kasia,
I still have not heard back on my last post from 5 days ago, hoping you can help. Please let me know. Tx.

    Kasia,
I found the solution to the forms appearing in the footer. It was a conflict with a plugin that I did not need, and thus eliminated.

I still do not know how to use the short code to place in a menu item to get the user directly to the Register page and bypass the Membership page, please advise.

I have two additional issues, I am hoping you can assist with?
    1) I seem to be having a problem with a bot that is registering hundreds of (spam) users on the site every day. I’d like to be able to turn off the WordPress Registration and force all Registration through Membership2; however, disabling “Settings/General/Allow anyone to register” also affects the ability to Register through Membership2. Any workaround you are aware of for this?

    2) I added reCaptcha to the Registration and Login pages. I wanted a simple checkbox for “I am not a Robot”, however, this plugin also seems to force the user to go through two sets of verification screens, which is a bit over the top. Are you aware of any way to make it simple.

Thank you Kasia. This issue does not seem to present itself with the 2017 theme; only my installed theme. Any thoughts on what I should do; perhaps contact the Theme developer?

Also, in regard to the Shortcode for the Subscribe button, I am unsure how to generate a link from this I can use to attach to my Register Menu button to go directly to the register fields. Can you advise please.

Thank you again Axel. I have done as you suggested and the problem still persists. I assume something is missing and I will need to look elsewhere for the solution.

Thank you for responding Axel. I am unable to log into the WordPress Admin Page, because I get the same 404 error when I try to go to https://angiecaravaglia/wp-admin. Other than the home page, not one link works.

About the only thing I can do is access the Cpanel, but I cannot find anything wrong and the htaccess file is present in the root folder.

Thank you all for responding. It was indeed a plug-in issue, identified as leejoseph suggested.

So, in your professional opinion. Is MySQL a “weak” database structure? I do know there are no other options at this time.

The reason they are giving me is that MySQL is “limited” and the cause of our issues. I am somehow not feeling comfortable with this response.

We are in process of moving the server to a new host and have rebuilt the site on a nice WordPress Theme called “Go Media”. I am hoping that resolves our issues.

    Thank you for the reference.

    Forum: Hacks
In reply to: "Read More" to widget plugins
    Thread Starter mcaravaglia

    (@mcaravaglia)

Thank you so much for your response. Let me be more specific. I have installed a plugin called Simple-Featured-Posts. This is a basic widget that allows me to show a set number of posts of a given category; in this case it is a post category called Industry News. The built-in functionality allows a user to click on any article title and they will be redirected to the full post; all good so far.

I would like to add a “Read More” text/link at the bottom of the Widget which upon click directs the user to example.com/category/indutry news. I believe this would need to be .php added to the plugin code itself.

Please excuse my very novice understanding of code; I am just learning how to do some of the needed .php and css needed to edit wordpress Themes.

Thank you sincerely for your support.

    Stephen,
Interestingly enough, it didn’t work when I entered it into the Theme’s CSS; however, the one plug in has a custom CSS field and when I entered the same code there, it worked like a charm.

The other one, “RSS-2” also did not work when placed in the Theme’s CSS file and there is no allowance for it in the widget itself, so I’m not sure how to fix that one.

A very good thought on not editing the Theme’s CSS due to updates, etc. Apparently, the Themes does not seem to have any place to add custom CSS, so I’ll look into a plugin for that; thanks for the suggestion.

On that same subject, I assume editing a Theme’s php files will also be a problem if the Theme gets updated. Inevitably though, some of the .php needed editing to get this where I needed it. No plug-ins for custom .php, I assume?

I’m very grateful for your help; very generous of you to invest your time helping people. Please let me know if there is a way for me to repay the favor ??

    Stephen,
You are the man! The site is on a temporary server at “sjol.mcsquaredprod.com“.

At the very bottom is a Widget called “Publisher’s Blog” and as you can see the text is all in red. This is because the default link color is in red and these are links to the posts. I want to keep the links, but change the copy to the same color as the body copy in all of the other posts, widgets, etc. Certainly, if I can add a roll-over state, that’d be nice too.

I’m pretty sure the way to do this is by adding CSS code to the Theme to address the copy in this Widget, without effecting any of the default colors defined in the CSS, but I’m not strong enough with CSS to get the code correct.

I have a similar issue with the widget just above this one, where I’m trying to get rid of the title (Find a Job) and the RSS Cube logo. For the life of me I cannot find this in the .php file for the Widget to remove it. I’m sure it’s in there and I just don’t recognize it.

Thanks for responding Mike. Yes, I also have Registration enabled. The light just came on; it creates the account on the fly when a new user posts. I got it, thanks!

Can you, or someone you can refer me to, make customizations/edits to this Theme for me? I’m hoping to get a jobs site up ASAP.

    Let me know. Thank you.

    Michael
