Ah, thanks so much for the verification! Thanks to your feedback I uncovered a lingering bug re: handling legacy icons that aren’t supported post-v5-upgrade. I’ve shipped the latest beta, which should hopefully resolve the issues you’re encountering (along with a few others). Please see https://mickeykay.me/2020/09/better-font-awesome-v2-ready-for-testing/ again for the latest updates, and to try it out if you are willing. Important call-out that I suspect you’ll need to do as well:

folks who enabled another beta version already will still need to manually enable the “Include v4 CSS shim” option via Settings > Better Font Awesome

Hi all, I got in touch with the CDN and confirmed they were down and were able to get things back up and running. The issue at hand should resolve shortly, if it hasn’t already. Thanks for all the feedback, and definitely a good idea to lower the timeout on the data fetch. I will be working on integrating that adjustment in the coming week, ideally in conjunction with the bigger 2.0 release that we have been beta testing. What version of the plugin are you using? I’ve not seen this issue before, but I know the jsdelivr API is currently down, which is causing some issues with the plugin that will hopefully be resolved shortly.

So sorry y’all, but it looks like this is an issue with the jsdelivr CDN that hosts font awesome, and is not something I have any control over. If you really need to get a fix out, you can always try the latest beta that I’m hoping to release in the near future. So sorry about the frustrations Merlin. Totally understand. I’m working on a quick fix as we speak, and have been swamped with work and parenting duties. I am getting some extra support QA-ing the changes today/tomorrow and hope to have a fix out ASAP.
