In reply to: Username Not Registered?Well, that’s strange, I was able to login to the db directly with phpMyAdmin and look at the User table. Apparently someone changed my username somehow. I was able to change it back, update password, etc… and access. Now I need to get paranoid and update everything everywhere, ugh.

In reply to: 403 Error only on index of multisite subfolderAlright, it’s looking like I’m going to have to get the redirects set up and then remove/rename the directory after the fact. Thanks again for your help. I’m going to leave this open in case there is an actual technical solution to this, but I think I’ve got a plan at least, it’s just going to take a little longer…

In reply to: 403 Error only on index of multisite subfolderThis page indicates a workaround, but it doesn’t seem to work:
https://www.narga.net/how-to-solve-403-forbidden-wordpress-permalink-clash-folder-name/It may be a different situation, but it does seem like there could be some sort of .htaccess solution here (I don’t know enough about .htaccess, clearly)

In reply to: 403 Error only on index of multisite subfolderThanks for the responses!
Exporting/importing the posts isn’t a problem and I’ve actually already imported all 2000 or so posts into WP (the process was pretty easy).
Again, I can actually get to literally all of the content. The admin pages, individual posts, category pages, monthly archives, heck, even the search (which uses index.php!) works fine. It’s actually great! Assuming I can get the index working, I’ll also be able to convert to https, which is another reason I don’t want to just start using something new and link back to the old, etc (and WP has nice plugins that seem to work well)…
I can’t help but think there must be a way to make this work. I’m sure most installs are just new sites, but there has to be some example of someone using WP in a directory that already exists. Heck, it works on the root page, why wouldn’t it work in the “weblog” directory? Again, it kinda sorta does work in the weblog directory, just not the index page…
Per Google’s guidelines, I’m supposed to leave the files where they are (even though I’m going to set up redirects at some point) and given that the main weblog page is the one that has the most SEO juice of them all, I’d like to continue using it.
I’d appreciate any additional help…

In reply to: 403 Error only on index of multisite subfolderThanks for the response!
The page that’s up there now is the one generated by my old blogging software (as mentioned, it’s Movable Type).
So I have to delete/rename the “weblog” folder in order for wordpress to work?
This means that all of the links on my old blog will be broken and thus I’ll lose whatever SEO I had built up over the last 20 years of blogging (I was planning on doing 301 redirects to the new WP pages). Look, I’m not a superstar or anything, but if possible, I’d like to avoid losing whatever meager links/SEO I’ve built up.
Any other options on this would be much appreciated!
