In reply to: XML Export "Something Went Wrong" MessageOh, sorry. I have a self-hosted blog so I usually use this space for questions. I didn’t know. Thanks anyway for your help.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: XML Export "Something Went Wrong" MessageEsmi, Thanks again, so much.
It’s actually not my personal blog. It is the blog of a friend who died last year, and I offered to make a book of his posts for his wife. It seems to be a WordPress.com blog (I use WordPress but self-hosted) and so I’m assuming it’s the latest version of WP.
His blog was very simple, and there weren’t many Plug-ins. But I will try deactivating the few he has and see if this allows me to extract the data. All I want to do is go from blog to book — for 10 posts! It’s still as complicated as if there were 100!

I’m doing it via “tools” in the dashboard.

In reply to: [YARPP - Yet Another Related Posts Plugin] Ghost thumbnail, and moreThanks – this should be easy to fix. I’ve looked through all the templates and I don’t seem to see that code <span class=”frame-outer”>
Could you tell me which template it’s in?thanks if you can
otherwise I’ll keep scouring.best wishes

In reply to: [YARPP - Yet Another Related Posts Plugin] Ghost thumbnail, and moreJust a further note — I have now sorted out the problem with the distorted frames around my thumbnails and I’ve checked it in a few different browsers and they all look just as before, and beautiful. But I still have this mystery empty thumbnail frame that appears below the three posts. Again, not your job to sort this out for me but if you had any further ideas I’d welcome them. Best wishes (and happy holidays)

In reply to: [YARPP - Yet Another Related Posts Plugin] Ghost thumbnail, and moreI’m so grateful for your response.
I had tried this before, and I tried it again and when I select the PHP (custom) option, I get a list and the ghost-frame still appears. So clearly my little customization job isn’t jibing well with your upgrades!
Interesting to see that if you go to older posts, written and saved before the upgrade, the thumbnail bits work out fine — it’s just the empty ghost box that still appears.
I’m going to dig into the archives of my correspondence with my coding-coach on this project and see if I can recreate or undo what I did.
If you have any other ideas — I’m happy for them but I know that you are not a full-time support person!
Okay, thanks. This is a bit beyond me. But thanks anyway!
Thanks. I know that option — and it makes the box wider or narrower, but I’m thinking about making it shrink in more than that sense — because it’s out of proportion with the rest of the type in the sidebar. (Might be a problem with the theme, too.)
It may be that this level of customization isn’t possible —
thanks for your reply…
I would have expected that the latest version of WordPress and Subscribe2 (both have been updated since I had this issue last month) would have handled this. I’m sorry that I don’t know more about jquery and scripts to help you. I can tell you the plug-in I installed that resolved the problem for me:
jQuery Vertical Accordion Menu

Brilliant. So easy and it works now. Thanks for finding the solution and for sharing it.
I think it is related to the upgrade, as mine worked fine, as far as I know, until last week when I upgraded. Do you think there’ll be an updated Plug-in? To whose attention should we bring this issue? WordPress or the Plug-in creator?
Although the problem seemed to repair itself yesterday, now it is once again NOT cascading but doing as I mentioned above, just clicking to the full page of posts for an entire month or year, depending on what you link to.
Any ideas how to restore my collapsing archives? I’ve checked it in three different browsers, it doesn’t work in any of them now.
Alright I’m not sure what happened, except perhaps a small change I made in the plug-in set up, when I checked on the problem, has now registered and the archives are collapsing more elegantly than ever before. So, um, never mind.
Something else to note, that I attempted to go to the “options and settings” link for this plug-in, on the WP plug-in page, and it gave me an error message: “You do not have sufficient permission to access this page.” I’m not sure why I wouldn’t have permission, as I’m the owner/administrator. As well, I attempted to download another archives plug-in, just to try that, and it gave me the attached error message.
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare collapsarch_load_domain()(previously declared in /home/mydirectory here/public-html/myblognamehere/wpcontent/plugins/collapsing-archives/collapsArch.php:34) in ……. etc on line 39.
Is this an issue with my blog or with the plug-in?

In reply to: [Collapsing Archives] [Plugin: Collapsing Archives] Issue with 2011 postsI’m sorry I don’t have a solution; I’m jumping on your question because I have a similar issue.
First the archives for 2009 and 2010 totally disappeared.
So I went into the widgets and indicated, deliberately, to include years 2009, 2010, 2010. This restored the archives, however 2009 and 2010 are listed beneath January 2011. So it’s funky. An after fussing with this, a weird space thing changed in my entire widget column. All my widgets are spaced much closer together than they used to be. And the widget (meta) directly below the collapsing archives is indented differently and spaces itself too close to the previous widget. The whole widget bar has gotten reformatted or something.
It seems to be an issue that starts from the collapsing archive —
Although I tried simply removing the meta widget (beneath the archives) and when I did that, it removed with it every text and widget that was positioned beneath it. So is it related?
I appreciate, as always, any suggestions.
Visit my blog and look at the bottom of the side bar (on the right) to see what I mean.
merci.
