Just an update since I started this massive thread. I have tried most of these solutions on the many many wordpress sites I maintain and not one single solution works on all of them. As near as I can tell this is a fundamental flaw in the 5.3 versions of wordpress because that is the only common denominator since all the sites that I have kept on earlier releases all still work. Thanks for everyone who has suggested solutions, but I really hope the core wordpress development people could at least acknowledge that there is an ongoing issue that might be addressed for all the people on this thread.

Perhaps I explained the issue poorly. When the powerpress login is activated Yoast SEO is unusable like shown in the screen cap https://podcast.mollysdailykiss.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/PowerPress1.jpg

And when you click the add featured image item in the dashboard nothing happens. When I disable powerpress Yoast SEO once again works

I am aware that it doesn’t have a sidebar, I would like to add one. I have tried creating a child theme and adding the php files that would add a sidebar to the theme, but sadly that hasn’t worked. So I wondered if something else was stopping the new widget area from showing.

I will try another approach, but if you have any notions of how I could add a sidebar to this theme I would be very grateful ??

I have many websites I support that I use Jetpack on. My admin level tech support account does NOT use my login credentials to connect jetpack, It uses the customers login. Yet I as well as the other admin all need to see the full stats. Having to connect the MANY other sites I support just so I can see the stat details is a giant step backwards. As well leaving the site to go to wordpress.com to login under a different ID doesn’t seem to be a great plan either.

Hi Sorry for the delay, the dashboard sidebar is there, but with no icons, the same with the admin bar at the top. Switching the theme fixes the issue as does disabling jetpack

Thank you, that does indeed fix the problem on mobile.
It how ever causes a new problem in that the site now renders differently in Firefox than it does in other browsers.
In Chrome and IE the sidebar shows on the right with the content left. In Firefox it shows the content full width with the sidebar on the left starting after the content.

Downloaded and installed on 2 sites, the only thing that doesn’t seem to work is the title. Empty on the 2 I have done by ftp and rename the folder. I will try deleting the old plugin and starting fresh. Excellent work!
