I have this happening now too – not only will it involve hours of work to fix it but without knowing what’s the cause, any work I do could be wiped out again. Though, I no longer see the events calendar plugin even available and attempts to use it again gets me a response like I cannot download it because I already have it.

I just had this happen on dwwc.net. I actually attempting to role the site back to a day that the events calendar worked and I cannot do so via wordpress nor at the server host. THey cannot do it either. I feel like I should recreate the events but I’m concerned that whatever broke will just happen again.
